Issue Title: fps drops while in game when i click the arrow to go to the next menu item

Issue Description: client lags really badly when i click the arrow to go to the next menu item (see screenshot if still confused)

in result if im the host, all people connected will also lag.

the lag makes the game unplayable.

it gets worse with mods. even with them all disabled the lag is still there.

I've been able to reproduce the same error on my laptop. i just installed the game and played it. It appears the more mods i install the worse it gets.

running in lower graphics settings / notebook mode makes no difference.

Steps to Reproduce: 1. join any game / host any game

2. open the SURVIVAL tab

3. click on the down arrow

4. FPS drops / everyone lags if youre host

furthermore i just noticed when i pick things up (flint, twigs, berries, etc) there is a minor lag after i collect the item.  usually just the first item.

 

i think loading of the images is whats causing the issue :\ might be way off

What platform are you playing on (PC, Mac, Linux)? Could you provide us a detailed list of your system specs including your GPU specs (DxDiag if on PC).

 

Are you playing in fullscreen or windowed mode? Are you re-sizing the window when playing?

 

And can you post the contents of your log.txt file? It should be in Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\log.txt

I removed all mods and deleted my settings.ini then loaded up the game
with no mods installed and fresh settings, the lag occurs each time:
- i pick a berry or a carrot or a flower, there is a drop in FPS
- i click the next button in the menu (as shown in original post), there is a drop in FPS

- i quit the game and didnt play any further after this..
 
This occurs in both window and full screen mode (i like to play in window usually)
 
yes the window has been resized.

hey i've done some more research, it actually appears to be a common problem.

 

any other users reading this thread, do you have the same lag?  I'm just curious to know how many people experience this.

 

host a new server, click on the rope on the left (survival), press and hold W A S OR D (just run in 1 direction), and click the down arrow as youre running.  holy fps drop!

it happens with mods for me in normal don't starve, however it is less severe when I have less mods/items. I have over 300 items at least so that's why it happens for me in don't starve, I haven't tested it in DST however. I assume it is the same from the way you are explaining it.

 

I am talking about the crafting tab menus when clicking on the arrow, I don't get lag when I pick berries etc.
