Character Mod crash, Log cuts off at "regsitering default mod prefab"

Working on a custom character with a custom hat, and every time I enable the mod the game crashes with the log ending at "regsitering default mod prefab."  What does this mean?

You are posting a DST log in the DS forum, so you might not get as much help as possible here.

I'm assuming that you aren't working on the "The crew" mod, since that's been downloaded via steam workshop.  Have you tried disabling it?
