Thresher25
I have a suggestion for a new item to be added into the game. I am not sure if somebody else already posted something like this but after playing DST I have noticed something that could be improved. In the Rockland biomes as most players know there are meteor showers. These meteor showers are a really cool addition to the game but I believe that there is one issue that could be fixed. Currently if you have a base near or in (like mine) a Rocky biome you base will be bombarded by meteors. This is not so bad as most structures can be fixed BUT items in chests will disappear when the chest is taking damage from the meteor. I believe of this reason that a reinforced chest would be a cool and needed addition to the game. As a suggestion, the chest could be possibly made out of Stone bricks or maybe something like moonrock (it takes a meteor do be protected from a meteor). I think this addition would work well with don't starve and would save some very painful losses on unsuspecting players (me). Good luck and I hope this helped! Thresher25
Also I realized that the same thing happens to ice boxes in the game. This is extremely frustrating and is almost game breaking because when you have 200+ honey and 60+ large jerky in the ice box and it is destroyed bya a passing meteor during winter, it sucks. either ice boxes/chests should not be damaged/ destroy items or there should be a moonrock version of the ice box, eg. 6 moonrock and 1 gear or something like that. Please fix or add soon! Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/47648-suggestion-for-new-content/#findComment-593596 Share on other sites
Zillvr
It's ill-advised to camp in or nearby a meteor prone area. If you do camp there then you're just asking for your camp to get demolished. Another point to consider is having structures with more durability can be exploitable by griefers if all they need is a few moon rocks and some basic chest requirements to make them. On the other hand, if the devs feel like including the Scaled Chest to DST from RoG then maybe a variation of your idea will be considered. We can only hope. Anyhow, the solution here isn't to add an entirely different type of chest/icebox but to simply not camp in or nearby a meteor prone area. Lastly, since you mentioned moon rocks and DST I believe this thread/topic should be moved to DST's Suggestions and Feedback, unless mods feel otherwise. Im not sure if you completely understood, but my issue is when the meteors hit a chest, they don't necessarily destroy the chest, only the items in the chest/icebox. Lastly, since you mentioned moon rocks and DST I believe this thread/topic should be moved to DST's Suggestions and FeedbackYeah I only realized after I posted this that I posted it on the DS discussion page and not DST. Do you have any idea if there is a way for me to move it? Re-read, and I now fully understand where you are getting at. Sorry. Sadly, I do not know whether klei intentionally wanted that to happen. Wherein if a meteor hits a chest with items, only the items get destroyed. Does the chest get destroyed eventually once its empty? And/or does the chest take no damage whatsoever until it gets emptied? Lastly, only forum mods have the ability to move threads/topics, so we can only wait for one of the mods to move it when they see this. The chest does get destroyed eventually once it is empty. This seems to be a bug or something that should be fixed because when you break a chest with a hammer, the items do not get destroyed, but rather just lay on the ground, which wouldn't be so bad if that was the case but the meteors destroy the actual items, and it is very easy to lose precious resources/ progress/ vital food.
