Saines
I know the backpack does exactly what I'm looking for, but from what I can tell the backpack does this not by any particular line of code in its prefab file, but by something in the AnimState "swap_backpack". In the "animation.xml" inside a zip file that was made from the .scml Spriter file for my hat mod, I was gonna test to see if the "z_index", written for every frame of the animation, is what I need to change in order to move the hat behind the players head. I couldn't confirm this with the backpack's animation file because there isn't an "exported" folder in the original game files, and I don't know how to reverse engineer the "anim" or "build" files from their respective "swap_backpack.zip". But now I'm facing an entirely different problem that I'm sure requires a simple explanation: How EXACTLY do you instigate Don't Starve Mod Tools to Atlas and Export your .scml files into the anim folder? If I start a new mod or edit an old one, it always seemed to work by itself when I play Don't Starve, but lately when I delete the .zip's in the anim folder and restart the game, it shows the list of other mods being checked off before opening the game, but it doesn't atlas or export or compile the missing .zip files, and my game just crashes or disables the mod. If I could re-atlas and export the animation.xml over and over I could at least Test to see if z_index Is in fact the line I need to be working with, and painstakingly determine whether each frame needs to be a 0 or 1. But now even if I had the animation's z_index all sorted out, I wouldn't be able to get it Compiled into the anim folder anyways. So basically:1. How do I get Don't Starve Mod Tools to re-Atlas and Export the files in my "exported" folder into "anim"? 2. Is "z_index" what controls whether equipment is behind or above a player? 3. If so is there an easy way to figure what frames need to be "z_index='0' " or at least Easier?
