Dont Starve Full screen Issue (HELP)

So I want to play at 720p resolution fullscreen but dont starve keeps changing my desktop resolution from 1600x900 to 1280x720. Is there any way to keep my normal desktop resolution while playing dont starve at 720p fullscreen wihtout changing my desktop resolution? Or is this normal?

Can I ask if you are playing Don't Starve on Steam or Standalone? 

 

Hmm, try going into your Documents folder at Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve and open the file "settings.ini" to manually change the resolution in the document.

 

For example, 

 

fullscreen_width = 1600

fullscreen_height = 900

 

Save and close "settings.ini" and launch Don't Starve, this should allow you to play your game in the resolution you'd like.

What I mean is that If its possible to play dont starve at 720p fullcreen without affecting my 1080p desktop resolution. And Im playing Dont Starve on Steam

I am having a similar problem also. I have a 4k monitor that runs 30hz at 4k and 120 at 1080p so you can see why I would rather play this game at 1080p. The only issue is that whenever I try to go fullscreen the screen just goes into the top left corner and only takes up about 1/4th of the screen. I have tried everything that has been recommended on this site for resolution changes but nothing seems to work. I run windows 8.1 so the windows xp bug isn't a issue and I have changed the resolution of my whole monitor to try to justt get the game to play full screen but noting is working.
