Issue Title: Picking up an item takes enormous amount of time (1.0+ seconds)

Issue Description: Picking up any item like flint/stone/flowers/whatever takes about 1.0 second more than usual.

Steps to Reproduce: Just joining any game and trying to pick things up is enough to reproduce the bug.
