Hey @Soto - can you upload the log.txt file after you crash? You can find it in your (My) Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether folder. Thanks!

Try this:

1. Go to your Don't Starve folder (you can either browse local files from Steam or navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Don't Starve Together Beta manually)

2. Open the data folder

3. If there is a DLC0002 folder within that, delete it.

4. Have Steam verify your files again.

That should fix it, but let me know if it doesn't.

Fixed it, weird as hell bug I gotta say.

Yeah, it's 'cause we changed the folder architecture a bit and I guess Steam doesn't a good job of detecting those changes and deleting files that aren't part of the build anymore... Should be a one-time problem, though!

Try this:

1. Go to your Don't Starve folder (you can either browse local files from Steam or navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Don't Starve Together Beta manually)

Nice for Soto if it worked but my files are different:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dont_Starve

There's not ''Don't Starve Togheter'' since it's been quite a while that this problem apeared.

At first I gave up but now I just really want to play (plus the multiplayer update omg)

So I may have a quite old version of the game since I never had to chance to update it because it wouldn't launch....

I tried redownloading DXRedist and VCRedist many times but it won't change anything.

I also tried redownloading multiple times the game and also tchecking the game cache but it won't work.

The facts that I can tell you that may help you solve the problem:

-When it crashed for the first time, I was testing mods downloaded from the Steam Workshop. At first I could restart the game after the crash, but then I couldn't. Don't worry, I tried many times cleaning the mod folder, even delete the folder itself but no results...

-Also another odd thing that happens is that when I tcheck the game cache, it says that many fails were corrected (about 400) and when I go tcheck the DXRedist Folder and it's FILLED with precisely 158 Winrar folders (counting the installer) here's some exemples:

Feb2005_d3dx9_24_x64

Feb2006_d3dx9_29_x64

FEB2007_XACT_x64

Feb2010_X3DAudio_x64

Jun2005_d3dx9_26_x86

JUN2006_XACT_x86

Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x64

APR2007_xinput_x86

I don't really know what that means but is that normal??

I mean, I never played don't starve in Febuary 2005 :I

I also tried setting different launching options such as:

-windowed -w 1366 -h 768

-fullscreen

(In steam forums, that actually worked for someone)

And if you want to know my computer specs:

-Processor: Intel® Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz  2.00GHz

-Installed Memory (RAM): 6.00 Go

-System Type: 64bits

-Tell me if there's something missing you need to know

Thank you so much

Hi @MastaDono - it sounds like you don't have access to the Don't Starve Together closed beta. Is that accurate? The problem that Soto posted about is specific to that game and wouldn't have any bearing on issues with the main game of Don't Starve: we haven't done any similar reorganization in Don't Starve. If you're having issues with the main game of Don't Starve, please post in the appropriate bug tracker forum: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/forum/17-dont-starve-bug-tracker/. Thanks!

Thanks alot for teplying and sorry for this inconvenience, have a nice day!

No trouble! Hope you can get it sorted out!

Thanks alot! No body replyed though but I'll still be waiting, I know you guys have alot to deal with.

Also, If it does not get fixed somehow, will it work if I rebuy the game on the official website? (I'll delete the steam don't starve content).

If yes well sure, it would be fun if the steam version would work, but I don't mind that much rebuying it (probably with RoG). It's a really awesome game and I can't wait for the multiplayer update to play with my friends. And it also encourages you guys to go on so yeah...

You don't need to buy it again:

How to Get the Stand-alone Version

To get your standalone key, you must first use your Steam key using the instructions above. Once the game is activated in steam, right click on "Don't Starve" in your library and then choose "View CD Key".

We've built a tool to download the Stand-alone version of Don't Starve. You will need to simply use the URL below and paste your key after "/s?key=" in the following URL.

https://www.humblebundle.com/s?key={YOUR KEY HERE}

**Replace {YOUR KEY HERE} including the curly braces with your key to download the stand-alone version. Once this is done, you may play and update the game without Steam.

You might also try uninstalling and reinstalling the game (I'd recommend completely deleting the folder after you uninstall to guarantee that you're getting a clean copy).
