Poor bunny rabbits

Seriously, whenever I catch a rabbit and put it on the ground to kill it; I feel guility. It just sits there and you kill it off, it doesn't even try to run. Am I the only one?

if it's the ethics of it all, you'll be please to know that it is quite easy to subsist on just berries and seeds dropped by birds. You don't even need to relocate and berry bushes either. just do that until you can build a crock pot and then you can start stewing monster meat safely. On a related note, killing anything non hostile also now draws the wrath of krampus: he breaks your stuff and steals your shinies.

OTHERWISE, for those who feel bad about putting bunnies on the ground and then killing from a resources standpoint, right clicking them directly from your inventory will just kill them... ALSO with the krampus ire, but hey, no tool degrade, right?
