Arshness
I managed to get my character mod working enough that I could go play it. Unfortunately, I had to build it on the bones of a currently working Steam-Workshop character that wasn't out of date just to get it here because the sample character pack is apparently out of date and so are most of the other characters I've had downloaded for a while. Anyway, I want to Finish her but I am a complete noob to the coding involved. I wonder if anyone can help me figure out how to adjust her abilities/statistics to what I want?I have a few ideas of how to handle her abilities, but I'm not sure what is possible, so I'm working through a process of elimination here. She has three aspects I want to cover in her abilities: 1. She is a good scavenger.2. She has been in a dark world for a long time so isn't going insane as quickly, just respects the dangers and fears them properly.3. She is a survivor. She is still alive. Thus I would like her to:1. Scavenge better by:a. Her tools degrade slowerb. Her chop/dig/gather speed is fasterc. She can deconstruct structures without a hammer and get the normal return, or she can deconstruct structures with a hammer and get ALL the materials used in its making back. << This is the one I'm most attached to. If I could give her only one power, it'd be this. 2. The ability in the next list below, item 4. If that's not possible, I will give her higher sanity to make up for the power I think she should have, but it won't be as cool. 3. Mercy can eat anything spoiled or stale but is a little hungrier than normal. She will not eat monster meat or its derivatives because that's a bad idea. Monster Meat should hurt her more than normal. There are a couple of quirky ideas that I think would be AWESOME but I bet they're too complicated to put into the game. These are due to the story that Mercy comes from. (She's an RP character my sister played in a game my wife ran for our friends over the past few years. The setting and tone of the game was such that when we found Don't Starve we all immediately thought "This is the Mercy game". A Fire Lit Room gave us similar vibes.) Thus, these are here in case anyone looks at this and thinks they can tell me how to make them work:3. "If you forget about it, the fire will go out."a. If you walk offscreen of a fire, it extinguishes. (Player-made fires and other fires as well. Forest on fire, campfire, any fire.)b. Also, while she is within screen sight of it, Mercy's campfire/firepit will not go out.c. I guess her torches should not go out til she puts them away... Not sure about this aspect because of the balance. The above is kinda self-balancing. On the one hand, she doesn't have to feed her fire all night. On the other hand, if she walks away for a moment, her fire will go out. 4.Normal sanity amount, but what is usually "normal sanity range" she is always "barely insane" (i.e. sees eyes at night etc). She never becomes "fully normal sanity". But her meter is the same size as anyone else's and her other stages of insanity begin at the same levels as others. Does that make sense? 5. Mercy lives in a dark world full of mist. I think I could represent that if I could pull the FOV in a little so she couldn't see as far/uncover map as far. Or simply make the world perpetual twilight (my peference really). Could I make it so that when you play her, it's always "dusk" then "night' then "dusk" then "night"? Anyway, these are the things I want to know how to to do. I may or may not use all of these aspects for her character. I think that I bay balance her easier without the torches never going out, so I may not do the hunger rate change. I would be so grateful for help in getting her running. I'm upgrading her art to HD today now that I have a clue what I'm doing. Anyway, thank you! Arshness
I have managed so far to give her: 1. Ignore spoilage2. Max sanity 200 I am very lost on the rest of this. I came up with :inst.components.eater.SetCanEatHorrible = falseFor being unable to eat monster meat but have no idea if that's actually going to work. I am also considering giving her a staring item: a backpack with more slots. Again, going off the Scavenger concept. I may change her tagline to Mercy the Scavenger (depending on my sister's preference).I don't know how to make the backpack itself. I did figure out how to give her a starting item tho.
