A conversion tool bug.. or?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I was having an issue with spriter. A bug which I've reported and they're working on. Before I figured out what the bug was though, I had tried downloading the most current version of Spriter and I just replaced it in the Don't Starve Mod Tools folder. Once I did this though, I started having another problem. Everything was done correctly, but my ground image was now for some reason invisible(this is for an equippable item mod). I know it was done correctly, and I *think* having the newer version of Spriter in the mod tools was the problem because I left everything the same in my mod, completely uninstalled(through Steam and then also manually deleted the Don't Starve Mod Tools folder that still had a few things in it for some reason) the mod tools, and reinstalled them again through Steam.

I couldn't see any difference in the scml files, but I'm not completely sure. I had looked at them closely before while trying to figure out other mod problems, but I didn't have the two side by side(original mod tools Spriter version vs. the newest build I installed). There isn't much info in there to begin with on a simple item like that.

Should I be able to update my Spriter version or is that screwing up something that I just don't understand with the conversion tools?

Also, for anyone interested, the Spriter bug is this... when you try to save an scml file with same name as a subfolder in your project folder, Spriter will automatically jump you into that subfolder(in the save dialog) without telling you. So basically you just have to go ahead and save the file in that subfolder, then from Windows explorer, you manually move the scml file back out to the project folder and the path still works fine for some reason. I made a screen recording of the bug and sent it to Brashmonkey and they're working on it. Or you can just change the name, but I was trying to follow the equippable item tutorial by Malacath word for word and anyone doing this will probably have the same problem... though I'm not sure why it hasn't come up more in the comments... ?

I am having the same issue with an equippable item mod, where both inventory and in game image are invisible.  I will be keeping an eye on forums to see if anyone has ideas.  Sorry for the lack of solution, just wanted to say this seems to have happened to a few people since the new update a few hours ago.  Good luck all.

I had that one too. When using spriter you must properly organize folders with used images or it will be invisible.

Would you be able to describe what I should do?

It is not my mod, and I don't think I own spriter, but I can download it.

Thank you for your reply.

Oops, relatively new to the forums here and apparently I don't get notified unless I'm following the thread even if I started it. Good to know. Sorry about the lack of replies.

I had same problem. You must use that version of spriter  what was in mod tools, not newer.

Yeah, I talked to someone at Spriter about it and he said some data elements have changed that probably wouldn't be compatible. I put the old one back and it's working now.

Check this thread where I've gone through a bunch of trouble with this and come up with some solutions.

There's also a Spriter bug that causes some path problems. See the thread above if you're interested.
