I think I missed it, so how to I get the steam version of Don't Starve?

Recommended Posts

I saw one other topic but it confused me and the guy hadn't actually bought the game - my problem is I did buy the game... from the dontstarvegame's site. I need it on my steam, now that I know steam has the thing. I want to connect it to steam so I can start playing with mods and be able to download and authorize it and all of the other useful features steam lets me do between computers but I'm not sure exactly how that works.

Do I need to reinstall the game before I can link them?

If so, do I need to reinstall again, but from steam, to make sure I get the steam folder?

Is there a way to download the game from steam and then activate it afterwards?

Do I just need the same activation code and just put it into steam?

If all I need is the code I already have somewhere in my e-mail, how do I put it onto an unpurchased game in steam?

I also apologize if this has been asked a hundred times or so, and I really hope this doesn't annoy anyone. Also, thanks for any help in advance. My sense of direction on the internet is as bad as offline. @.@

Create an account on https://www.humblebundle.com/ using the same email you bought the game with (or log into it if you already have one), and it should show up under the "Claim past purchases" section of your Humble library. Once you've claimed it, click on Don't Starve in your Humble library and you should find a key to redeem it on Steam there.

If it doesn't show up at all on your Humble page, enter the email you bought the game with into the key resender: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/keyresender

To redeem that key, start up the Steam client, click on "Games" in the top menu, click on "Activate a product on Steam", and enter the key in when prompted.

Awesome, thank you so much! It was a bit confusing since I didn't know if I had an account or not, but they seem to have a system for that, haha. It told me I made purchases and no account and sent me a startup link. It's a good thing I never deleted those old e-mails that had the links to the purchase pages, lol.

Anyways it's installing now, I'm super excited~
