dont starve standalone game

so here i am. i have been trying to get dont starve standalone all day but cant figure it out even with the help of joeW. i have reached the problem of not knowing how or where to enter my steam key without having to purchase the game again for $14.99. im wondering how to get dont starve on steam using the game keys i have without having to buy the game again.

Take the code you got, go to "Games" up the top left corner, click activate a product on steam, and then type in or paste your code in the box it presents.

 

If you can't complete this, I'd first recommend you drop your pants, and check to make sure you at least know what gender you are.
