(Alright, chapter 3 shall commence!)

Who knew how long they were in that hell? It was impossible to tell. Perhaps it had been an hour, or a year, or a decade... The pain had blinded all other senses. But then, in Oxryklne's mind, a voice penetrated all else. Wake up.

(Welp, looks like I'm the protagonist.)

Oxryklne hears the voice, muffled though the figurative sea of pain he drowns in.  He forces his way to the metaphorical surface and tries to croak out a response, then remembers that he can't actually talk.  So he uses telepathy.  <H-h-hel-hello?>

(Well, you just happened to eat Frank. I could have left him as J, but I needed him to wake you up.)

I'm pulling you out. Brace yourself. At that, somewhere in the distant darkness, a blinding light shone, driving most of the shadows away. Oxryklne, however, seemed to be pulled towards it.

It's been a long time. A very long time. I forgot to bring a calendar with me when you ate me, but it's been a very long time. I know that much. And we're waking you up. I can get you out of here now.

Oxryklne soon wakes up in the rubble of what seems to be what's left of a castle. There are stone bricks scattered, and by Oxryklne lie his friends. It appears to be night, but there don't seem to be any stars, and the moon is gone.

A man steps out from behind the rubble. "Hello." He seems to have been the second voice. He wields two mismatched daggers, and his clothes are ragged and he is clearly underfed. He seems to be on the order of 20 years old or so. He has short black hair and brown eyes with a scar over the right one. "Where did you come from?"

(I'd be more surprised to be talking telepathically with a beetle, but oh well.)

<I'm not stupid, your blundering oaf.  We were fighting with some guy who had our souls in candles, and then the candles got put out, and we were in the Nether.  Until my Ancient friend got us out.>

Oxryklne says 'Friend' like he means something else.
