Hi,

I purchased Don't Starve standalone during a recent gog.com sale.  I had been playing just fine with quite a few mods.  I noticed today there was an updater, so I ran it.  My version was quite out of date.  When I tried to run the game, it crashed before it finished loading even the first menu.  I found a file in bug forum (thread) which had a file that fixed my issue.  I'm able to load up the game now, but no mods work.  Everything says "out of date."  I was using Always On, Relaxed Crafting, and Backpack/Amulet slots.  I've since tried other mods and nothing works.

Do I have to go back to the old version to use mods?

This should be reported in the Modding forums since it's regarding out-of-date mods. Are you on "All's Well That Maxwell"? I'm running quite a few myself, inclusive of Always On Status and they all still work.

Could you check if you have the updated version of your mods? Always On Status V7.5, Relaxed Crafting V0.9, Backpack & Amulet slots.

Yes, I'm on "All's Well That Maxell" and I'm using the latest versions.  None of them work.  Games load but none of the mods work.  They all say out of date.  I guess I'll just uninstall and try going back to the old version.

:s Something must have happened. What happened exactly to the save file, was there a crash? If so, a log.txt file should be created in Documents (exact directories here). In case crashes ever happen again, that would be helpful for troubleshooting.

I went to download all three of those mods to check and they aren't out-of-date (my version is 90140). If your game says they are, does it automatically disable them even when you try to enable those mods?

Can I trade my standalone version in for a steam key or something using the serial code?

I'm not too sure if the GOG purchase allows that, sorry. :/ (Info about keys).

The only crash I got was after I first updated.  The game wouldn't launch at all.  I couldn't even get to the menu screen.  Then I downloaded the file from the thread in my OP.  It launched and loaded games fine, but no mods have worked since.  I don't have a log.txt file.  Probably because I've uninstalled and deleted everything multiple times.

The game does not automatically disable them.  They all say enabled with the check in the mods menu.

Edit: Screw it.  I give up.  Not wasting more time on a $4.99 purchase.

"deleted everything"...

Almost never the correct way to handle trouble shooting

Check documents/klei/ and look for the don't starve's log.txt. I doubt you've deleted it, since it's installed separately from Don't Starve's main data. Why would you try a bunch of other things after coming here for assistance? You don't tell your mechanic your engine isn't turning over, and then disassemble it yourself...
