fuzzyjowls
So, right now I want you to search "musket" in the forums. There's quite a few request and "new ideas" discussing muskets/firearms in don't starve. The general trend of peoples' agreement/argument is that Muskets and its ammo should be VERY powerful and even more difficult to get your hands on. However, no ones actually gone ahead and made this mod, making it hard to tell if it should be in the game or not. I'd be more then happy to spend time on it depending on if this is possible. "If what's possible?" You ask? I mean textures and coding would take a 'hella' time for me to manage, but the main variable holding me back is the "use" animation. The closest animation I can think of is the darts and it would still look pretty unnatural if someone put the butt of a musket in their mouth to shoot it. I'm wondering: Is it probable that I could use "Spriter" to make new animations for "musket use"? Any and all feedback appreciated. I also don't want to waste my time trying to make this mod if its way too ambitious, therefor your opinion=useful to me. Thanks for read'n
TheDanaAddams
This is something I've been asking about for a while - and as far as I can tell, it's not yet possible to add new player animations. Though I think it's coming. As soon as we can, I will be adding a Bow to Link.

TheDanaAddams
Can't this be done with the project Cheerio posted here (and then uploaded revised versions)? Judging by the reply I got, it won't work yet: Sorry, you misunderstood slightly. I made a script to start bring ds data into Spriter but there's a little more work needed to create new character anims and I won't be able to get to that till after the Halloween fun . Nycidian
You could do it but it would be hackish as all all hell. You would have to split up the atlas of the characters and make a custom animation for each character for that sole animation and then have that animation switched in only during that action and switched back after it. Likely this would not look right no matter how well you did it either.

What if instead of making separate atlas' of every character, why not just make the musket available to one character. Like the one character people play most: Wilson
Nycidian
Its the same problem just on a smaller scale. The animation would be hell to make and likely would never look good. Frankly you are welcome to try but I would not be interested. Something like this would be better to wait for better animation tools which are on the way. fuzzyjowls
@Nycidian I guess your right, I don't want to open a can of warms especially being as inpatient as I am. So, I'll wait for these tools...But, where have you heard about these future tools, mind give'n me a link? thanks bud
