The man in question takes off his helm.  Close up, his armor looks quite odd - there are random bits of metal nailed onto his actual suit.  These chunks of metal look almost identical to pieces of Shadowfall's armor.

"This is Aerolon, the one who brought together the group who originally trapped Shadowfall.  He was also leader of that party."

Aerolon grunts, as if agreeing with him.

"Now, wait a moment. It's not all over. Even if we can't get out, we have others on the outside. What about Wilson and his group? They have Yuka, as well. And Lucas knows what's going on, so maybe he can help too. I don't know, and apparently Will isn't dead. It's not hopeless. They might stand a chance if they are all united."

(Yes, I'm aware Yuka was killed. Satoshi is not.)

Pops looks at Azcar.

"You aren't the man you were cracked up to be, Vorteth."

He then looks at Aerolon.

"And you, too? You've given up? You've changed. The Aerolon I knew wouldn't be sitting down speechlessly. Hell, the Aerolon I knew would have escaped by now."

He shakes his head, and backs away.

"If this is how the warriors are now, you wouldn't stand a chance against Shadowfall even if you could escape."

Aerolon growls.  "It wasn't  I who died hanging limply from ropes after blundering into a hole!  I died -"

"Not now."  Azcar says.  He turns to Pops with a sad look on his face.

"It is true that I am not who I am 'Cracked up to be'."  He says.  "Before, I would have fought out of this trap, Aerolon by my side.  But times change.  People change.  And after being trapped here so long...we have lost the will to fight."

Pops closes his eyes and shakes his head.

"I haven't changed. I haven't changed a bit. Sure I'm old, but that doesn't mean I give up at the first sight of failure."
He laughs.

"This must be why I was offed early. First one to go. Well, damn me to hell for not changing. Damn me to hell for not giving up. But may God be my witness, either I will slay Shadowfall, or he will slay me. And nothing in existence can get between that."

With one look at the group, he leaves.

========Many, many years ago=========

The night was dark. Eacletis whimpered, and clutched his brother, Agustus. The large man whimpered, afraid of the darkness. "Pull yourself together." Agustus hastily spit out a reply. The last thing he wanted to show was weakness in front of this new group of people. Especially that man- Aerolon. The knight had gathered the members, and lead the charge. Agustus had seen first hand how skilled in combat Aerolon was. He prayed that himself nor his brother would cross blades with that man. Agustus and his brother Eacletis, looked nothing like each other. Agustus was a small man, skilled in the art of mentalmancy. His brother had inhuman strength, but that came with the downside of him being less intelligent. Shadowfall could sense Eacletis's fear. Agustus knew it, too. He tried to hush his brother, but to no avail. Before long, a plethora of shadow hands gripped Eacletis. Despite his strength, he was unable to free himself. There was no other options. With one look at the group, he gave chase to his brother. The rest of his group yelled for him to return, but there was no way he would allow Shadowfall to get his brother. At least not without a fight. Streaks of light raced through the night sky, but it was too late for both Agustus and his brother. Unable to slay or contain Agustus, the shadow hands dragged him away, leaving him suspended by chains in an unknown place. After what seemed like an eternity of grieving for his lost brother, stuck in Shadowfall's prison, Agustus was set free and was returned to the normal world. The group must have defeated Shadowfall. However, Agustus knew that the demon would return. And for that moment, he would need an apprentice. After years, even decades of shambling along in a new, developing world, he stumbled across an orphan. A young boy by the name of Joseph.

(Whoops. Looks like I wrote way too much. That was much shorter my head.)

(The first battle against Shadowfall happened on Earth around the end of the Dark Ages.  Aerolon got killed trapping him within the dimension, so there's no way he could be in the dimension, which was at the time nothing more than Shadowfall's prison and the two Beacon Temples floating in oblivion.)

(I really should have explained all this earlier instead of halfway through the story.)

"Warriors, you have to have faith and believe in yourselves. Yes people change, but you can't let one failure change everything. Our failures and achievements make us who we are. Warriors, you have so much strength, but your letting every measly second slip away. Every second counts. Hell, I bet you guys could've found a way out of here by now, but you are sitting in doubt, letting it get under your skin- erm, and bones. Find your belief inside you. I believe in you, and you guys should sure as hell believe in yourselves. Belief and faith triggers magic, and that can be used against Shadowfall! Just toughen up!"

*Snowfall stands up*

"Yeah! Princess Starling is right!"

"For once I have to agree with Snowfall, without y'all's magic, you're all boring."

Joseph looks at Azcar and Jakob with a deep sadness, and be bows his head.

"I-I'm sorry... But I have to go with Pops..."

He runs after Satoshi and Pops. Pops looks back at them.

"You decided to come? That's good. Maybe this generation of Warriors do have a bit of grit."
