Shadowfall

[Battal]

Viti-Mortos sighs.  "It would take years to get anything through to you mortals.  Shadowfall is afraid of death.  The Nihilo is not death.  Do you understand?"

[Blewcheese]

Joseph sighs.

"Sorry that my petty human mind isn't enough to comprehend what you're telling me."

He looks at the mountains, lost in thought.

[Battal]

"Well ​I think it could be improved with a bit of fire, but it's alright, I guess."

After a few moments of awkward silence, the group continues onward.

[Battal]

(Double posting, yeah!)

The group reaches a pile of scattered rocks.  As the sun is hanging halfway through it's arc, they decide to take a break.

[Blewcheese]

(Woo!)

Joseph sighs, mildly exhausted, as he sits down.

"Anyone have something to eat? I'm famished."

[Ellebelly24]

"I saved a bit of my dinner."

[Blewcheese]

"Oh, can I have it? I mean, if you're hungry, you should eat it, because it's yours, but if you're not hungry..."
Joseph trails off, slightly flustered.

[Ellebelly24]

"Eh, you can have it."

*She gets out a fur backpack and rummages through it. She gets out the leftovers from her dinner and hands it to Joseph*

[Blewcheese]

"Thanks."

Joseph takes the leftovers and tries to eat it slowly. It isn't long before he is chugging the remains.

[gloryKAT]

Shard looks in her bag. She has kept her locket, but only because she figures she'll need it sometime. She looks at the pills, then roots around some more. She takes one of the pills in her mouth.

[Battal]

"So, are you ready to keep going?"  Jakob asks, standing up and grabbing his pack.

[Blewcheese]

Joseph nods, having finished the food.

"I'm about ready. You guys?"

He looks over at the others.

[Ellebelly24]

"Yup."

*Snowfall takes her hair out if the braid and throws it in a messy bun*

[Will]

"Yep, I'm ready. I re-compressed the cooking station, and have all of our food supplies. Right now, we've got enough for four days."

[Battal]

"Alright, then let's keep going!"

Jakob slings his pack over his shoulder, then sets off.

[Blewcheese]

Joseph follows after, a feeling of peace settling over him.

"Surely we must be close to the first beacon soon..."

[Ellebelly24]

"Please say we are..."

[Battal]

"We are nearing it; but we must first traverse a pass between the mountains.  The way is dangerous, but we must press on."

[Blewcheese]

Joseph nods.

"What kind of dangers? Snakes? Demons? Snake demons?"

[Ellebelly24]

*Snowfall facepalms*

"Relax Joseph."

[Will]

" And what kind of food can we find? Bread? Eggs? Breaded eggs? Man, Joseph, you use tropes more than me!"

Joseph snorts.

"Why would we ever find bread or eggs? And what even is a breaded egg, anyway? At least my trope made sense...•

He laughs softly and lightheartedly.

[Battal]

Jakob and Viti-Mortos facepalm once more.

[Ellebelly24]

*Snowfall joins them in facepalming*

"Lets just get a move on."

[Battal]

After traversing the rest of the field, the group reaches the base of two enormous, snow-capped mountains.  After a bit of searching, then find the pass Viti-Mortos spoke of; a thin, dark gap between the two mountains.
