Shadowfall

[Blewcheese]

Joseph looks at Will, and goes back up the stairs towards the group.

"You want to backtrack through that maze again? And go back in that hole? Who knows what predators have gotten Snowfall's body by now."

He puts his hands behind his head.

"I'm up for it."

[Will]

"Thank you, Joseph. Being alone is not a good idea. I'm sorry, Jakob, but I need to do this. I can't bear to not say goodbye."

[Battal]

Jakob nods. "I understand.  I'll keep a watch."

[Ellebelly24]

*Will and Joseph hear Snowfalls giggles in their minds*

[Blewcheese]

Joseph laughs, and looks over at Jakob.

"Alright. But if we come back to see your dead body, you're in some major trouble. Okay?"

Then he hears the giggle and looks over at Will.

"Did... Did you hear Snowfall? I swear I... Am I going insane? I'm going insane, aren't I?"

[Battal]

"I'll try to make that not happen."  Jakob says with a grin.

"And hurry!"  Azcar adds.  "Shadowfall could escape any moment now!"

[Will]

Joseph and Will eventually find themselves at the door that leads to the end of the well that contains Snowfall's body. Will opens the door to see what he expected. Snowfall's corpse. It was flayed on he ground, as if she had been struggling to breathe. Her spine had broken, which had cause much internal bleeding. Snowfall's neck had snapped, as well. The clothes were stained red with blood. Will burst into a coughing fit.

"Oh, dear god. This is... this is all my fault. If only I had been less sudden with my warning, Snowfall wouldn't have fallen off in surprise. I hope she doesn't blame me... but that is behind us. We need to bury her, Joseph."

[Blewcheese]

Joseph nods silently, and without any movement a hole begins to be dug in the ground. In the middle of the digging, however, Joseph takes off his glove and the digging continues.

"Here. You might want this back."

He tosses the glove at Will, smirking.

*the giggles turn into harsh, villainous laughs*

Snowfall: "guys, I hope you can hear me! Please, don't bury me! I would like it if you would just leave my body be. Also, Will, your warning didn't scare me, They did. My hands got sweaty, and I couldn't hold my grip. It wasn't your f-f-fault..."

*Snowfalls voice trails off as the laughter grows louder. The laughter isn't Snowfalls laughter... It's Sundrop's*

[Will]

"You're the fifth person to give this back to me. I'm going to destroy it once I get back."

Will begins to assist Joseph in digging, and they are soon done. They place Snowfall's body into the hole, and cover it with the dirt-like substance.

"Well, that's done. Let's head back." Ninja'd. Dangit.

 

"Snowfall?!? Wait... you don't sound like Snowfall..."

"Although Satoshi's death was. If only you had arrived sooner, you could have saved the poor sod. Not that I'd want that." cackled a voice that only Joseph recognized.

"What the hell?!? Two different voices... Joseph, what's happening?"

OOC: Are you guys starting a new arc?

Joseph snaps his fingers, and Snowfall's body is uncovered and it quickly levitates out of the hole. Simultaneously, the rope leading out snaps and falls to the ground.

"You know, the line is broken now."

His laugh mimics the one that Sundrop let out, and the constant laughter in Joseph's head only furthers his insanity.

 

Ooc: ... I think I might be... as well as Elle. Double arcs? Is that a thing? Unless that's not fine with you, we can just cut this out...

(No, I was gonna pull something during your fight with Shadowfall...)

Snowfall: "it is me though! I don't have much time! Just know that I will be with you always! Just... You should get back to Jakob..."

*the cackling grows dimmer, when a brush of wind blows against Joseph and Will's cheeks*

"Good luck..."

[Blewcheese]

Joseph laughs as he hears the voice, and he begins to rise in the air.

"Oh, it's you! You're the bugger who killed Satoshi!"

He redirects his attention to Will.

"Everything's happening, as far as you're concerned. But it doesn't matter, because you're not getting out of here."

[Will]

Before Joseph can go any crazier, Will runs up from his side and unleashes a punch to his head, knocking him out.

"Sometimes, you've just got to let them rest."

Ignoring all of the other voices, Will carries Joseph back to Jakob.

[Battal]

"Joseph?  You alright?"

[Blewcheese]

Joseph takes some deep breaths.

"I'm fine... But that glove. It broke the line. I... can do anything."

He feels a giddy laugh rising, but he chokes it down.

"This is what Pops always taught me for. He knew it would happen and it did. He was right."

Joseph giggles, then stops himself.

"Sorry. Just... Don't mind my ramblings."

[Battal]

"Well, now that everyone's alright...let's go kill us a demon lord."

The group descends down the staircase.

[Blewcheese]

As Joseph descends, his skin seems to radiate an unnatural light.

"Yeah. Shadowfall is going down. We can be done with this whole mess."

[Will]

<I can't believe it... I'm about to fight my second demon lord. Am I just really unlucky? Or is this my destiny? Bah, I don't believe in fate.>

"Azcar, I have one question. How do we kill Shadowfall? Do we just shoot and slash him until he dies, or is there something else? It's not going to be simple, I know it."

[Battal]

"We'll find out."  Azcar says as he steps through the doorway.

 

They stand in an enormous cavern.  The floor is far below them, a lake of molten rock.  A thin bridge leads across the large to a smallish stone platform in the middle of the cavern.  On the wall straight back from where the group stands, a cloaked figure hangs limp from chains.  He wears a hood; nothing can be seen under it but white eyes glowing with malice.

 

"At long last, you have arrived." Shadowfall speaks in a rasping voice.  "Here to kill me?  I think not."

 

A blast of mental pain shoots through the group's minds, instantly dropping them to the ground.

 

"This is the end!"  Shadowfall yells.  "The end of your pitiful race!"

 

Azcar slowly crawls forward, pulling the sickle out of his pack.

[Blewcheese]

Joseph stands up, grunting. With a blink, he removed the pain from his body.

"So, you're the one who killed Snowfall, yes? You destroyed her soul?"

He starts laughing a bit, and pulls out a large broadsword made of a flashy glowing matter out of seemingly nowhere.

"You're going to regret that."

With a roar, he leaps towards the figure.

[Will]

<Dammit! This pain- it is intolerable! Why is this scenario so familiar?!?>

<Because, you twit, you've been through it. And I caused it. And then you locked me in you.>

<No. Stop talking to me. You don't exist anymore. You can't be talking to me... I locked your thoughts away!>

<I'm afraid not. I need to leverage my assets. Being in you is no longer good insurance, considering what is happening. I'm leaving you, and taking my powers with me. I'm joining the winning team.>

<What?!? No, you->

Out of Will's body gushed a dark purple haze that quickly materialized in between Joseph and Shadowfall. It was what looked like a living black and purple flame. It caught Joseph by the leg, and hurled him across the room.

"Oh, Shadowfall. It's a pleasure to see you again. Thanks for setting me free from that boy, it was intolerable in there. How can I be of use?"

Will was using all of his energy to stand, drawing his revolver. He pointed it at the figure.

"I'm not letting you escape for a second time!"

Will fired the revolver.

[Blewcheese]

Joseph hits the wall, but leaps off it, unfazed.

"Oh, so you know him? Well, it seems fair enough that we kill your friend as well."

He leaps at the shadowy figure, brandishing his sword, taking advantage of the fact that Will fired a revolver at it.

*a flame appears from behind them*

???: "Oh, dear. I'm not much of a shadowy person."

*it was Sundrop*

"I guess I'm going with the true winning side this time though, sweetie. I hope you'll understand Shadowfall! Oh wait, you wouldn't."

*She sends a burst if fire towards the two figures*
