-Pokeshells and sanishells changes

When I started a new game in Mariena minor I found out that pokeshells of the beach biome are a bit of an annoyance. They started laying eggs in cycle 7, lowering the hp of my duplicants.

And ultimately ending in having to kill the pokeshells of the biome. And kind of the same thing goes for sanishells in reef biomes with the diference of them killing the critters that got unlucky to spawn near them.

And I would like to suggest a change to them, removing the pokeshells from the beach biome and moving the sanishells from the reef biome to the beach biome.

Why remove pokeshells?

Pokeshells are a bit boring, they are a familiar critter you encounter in almost all asteroids and not really needed for the DLC.

Some of the pourposes of pokeshells is to leave molts and use them for lime. But the DLC already adds a lot of new ways to get lime.

  • Sloggos spawn in the same biome pokeshells do, the beach biome, they produce molts and can also be turned to lime.
  • Beakons excreate lime and are found in the biome next to the beach biome.
  • The reef biome is made of corallium, you can get a lot of it, and it is basically free lime.

The lime production the pokeshells do, is replaceable with the DLC additions. And I would preefer to use the DLC methoths than the ol' pokeshells.

(and removing them from the beach biome isn't really a big deal since ocean biomes spawn in both regular Marinea and Marinea minor)

Why add sanishells to the beach biome?

First removing the sanishells from the reef biome would make them not kill the wild critters and would also not make them lay a pokeshell egg, since the reef biome only has salt water.

Now sanishells unlike the pokeshells seem a more interesting critter, working with morphs is interesting.

Moving them to the beach biome would sinergize with the water the beach biome has.

They would also be a better source of sand and kcal than pokeshells.

-Is the research portal really needed?

I don't see a reason to why the research portal exists other that it needs to be there since the other DLCs have it.

Unlocking, mesh tiles, tidal turbines and the gasket patern is not that usefull for that moment of the game.

Mesh tiles and tidal turbines are easily accessible with the regular reaserch station and some dirt.

The gasket patern is not that usefull until you get access to the plant pulverizer and vulcanizer.

I'd like to suggest making it so the research portal unlocks the plant pulverizer and vulcanizer. That way the gasket patern can synergize with them and be used earlier.

Another suggestion would be to make it unlock the aquatic grooming station for blowters.

At this moment the research portal seems unnecesary, unlike the ones from the other DLCs.

The wood heater and water liquefier are almost a necesity for Ceres' colonies, and the blastshots for Relica's colonies get an easier accesability.

-Minnow rewards are bad

Getting 2 gum palm seeds and 1 gasket for sushi is bad, sushi is locked behind material research data and some preparation of the fish meat, nori and liceloafs.

Getting 1 gasket from caviar is SO bad, bad, very bad, super bad, caviar is locked behind orbital research data and by that time in the game 1 gasket has practically no utility.

Also there's the fact that Minnow spawns with the attributes in 0 and not +7 like Jorge.

And at that time Minnow's unique skill of having a lof of breath seems useless, it's likely that the colony is all set up with atmosuits by the time one recruits Minnow.

-Random suggestions

  • Since Ceres asteroids have auroras, and Relica asteroids can have a ring of Demolior's debris. I would like to suggest to add a water ring to Marinea asteroids similar to the Demolior's debris, It would look very nice, and since it is a water ring, the possibility for a rainbow to be vissible when sunlight is illuminating the asteroids.
  • Adding a lab Marinea asteroid would be funny.
