This necessary shortcut to the Vault is too difficult to find. And once you don't now about this, or forget the rope thing, or directly leave by mistake, you can only go back to the surface and sail for the Giant Whirlpool again. I like the idea of introducing DS' classic concept, but there is no need to really craft a rope and drag it from the inventory and tie onto the exit. The key question is, no hint or clue tells us to do so. And I wonder how obvious the hint needs to be for us to realize what we should do. And a too obvious hint would weaken the secrecy and mysteriousness of the Vault.

So why not just "place an rope" by simply left-click the chasm and play the animation of crafting items. After this we can left-click the chasm to leave. Just like you can only enter the cave after mining the plugged sinkhole.

They changed character examination quotes.

For Wilson at least, he clearly states we should put a rope there, though its still kinda missible. Maybe rope, boards, and other debris could be in the spawn area, as the remains from a sunken boat.
