Forgive my phrasing and ignorance, I've played DST for years now but I'm STILL getting my lay of the lands, which is odd.
With my main WX getting an insight tree, I've started my first solo DST world, and as such I've been watching some DST LPs/Challenge runs in the background to osmose some information to help me.
One that caught my eye was a "Hamlet only" run, but that's not the point of this.
In watching that the "Interiors" of the dlc interested me SO MUCH. I'd LOVE to be able to build a house to get my poor WX out of the rain, and all the cool stuff you could do with the interior.
I would love to see it added just before the Rift tier as a big "building" task like Pearl's House, or the Postern, maybe even multiple tiers like Pearls but you have to complete them all to get it, as a house is a MASSIVE base booster for this game. Start with like, 20 Cut stone for the foundation, then 20 wood planks for the frame, then 40 for the walls, then the roof tiles (not sure what it'd be, please not like dragonfly scales TT.TT) and then when you're done mod it with a lightning rod or power system to link your devices fuel consumption, or radiators to regulate heat.
Probably a moving box or dolly or something like that one mod so you can move your base into your house once it's made. Hearing about all the cool stuff like DOORS and ROOMS, MAN I'd LOVE to make a crew house for my friends with each of us having our own room.
It'd be cool if rooms could have different shapes and sizes, so I could make hallways and foyers and a WHOLE big mansion interior!
Ahem, sorry, I'm getting carried away.
I digress, I wanted to say; I don't know if Klei's already commented on if hamlet's housing is possible, or viable or anything, but my desire for it has breached "too much" and I have to drum up hope for housing in DST.

(Bonus points/topic; the weather and hay fever and stuff would be fun optional mechanics in DST too. I was thinking how cool flooding is in Shipwrecked.)

Oh, in learning about DST I've learned a core concept of this game is "Nothing can be free" so I offer an idea; Nerf the sanity buff, and a "Decor" mechanic. Rooms with no decorations are dreary and DRAIN your sanity (Imagine Charlie Bucket's house from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) but as you add decoration it builds to be a Sanity bonus with enough decor up to a reasonable maximum. And let's be honest, we know people will be awful with this mechanic so maybe make it house-wise.
And of course if you're in a house you're safe from Deerclops right? Nah. Add Windows that can be built indoor that let you "peek" outside, because you will be able to spawn Deerclops and you don't want them destroying your house.
I know the interior is safe in Hamlet from the exterior being destroyed, so I'd keep that, but it'll probably need to be nerfed to account for trolling, so maybe a house needs to be repaired within, what, a day? Or a few. Else all the items in it will be destroyed in the rubble, with important items being dropped outside.
At least, that's how I'd balance given Klei's intended balance ethos.

There are plenty of things from Don't Starve's DLCs that I think would be cool to see in DST, as well as stuff in DST I wouldn't mind seeing in regular Don't Starve.

Snaptooths for Wormwood would be nice, but one of the things that I really thought had potential were the crafting menu subcategories that appeared when furnishing your house, before they nixed the whole UI in favor of that hodgepodge they left us with. I bet a clever and motivated developer could really have done some amazing stuff with that.
