Global Player Icon Item!

I hope you’re all having a good day!

 

While I enjoy playing with the Global Positions mod on PC, it admittedly removes the utility of maps scroll and partially trivializes the cartographer's desk.

 

Please consider adding an item (perhaps in the Magic tab?) that a player can simply hold in their inventory to enable global positioning (without sharing map exploration).

 

I believe this would be a great addition to the game that most players would appreciate (especially for console players). For those who prefer the classic experience, they could simply choose not to craft the item.

 

Currently, the only way to enable this feature is by using the Compass, which must be equipped in the hand slot. This isn't very viable during exploration (when using a Walking Cane) or during combat (when using weapons). Furthermore, the Compass has limited durability, making it even less practical for long term use.

Some crafting stations have far too few recipes, so new crafting recipes are really needed. We can also add an upgrade to the compass. After upgrading, it can show your friends' locations even when it’s in your inventory, and there should also be a way to repair it.
