The suggestion: when an a backup chassis is empty of all items, enable it being picked up by the player, and stored in their inventory. When the chassis is picked up, its circuits, its stats and charge level are all saved, and it stops counting against the chassis limit. If the player is below the chassis limit they can place the chassis.

What this enables: the player can more freely move chassis solving various pain points.

Examples of pain points:

  • Recovering a body. If you die in the caves with no light you potentially leave behind a body than needs recovering (via inhabited machine), but recovery is really awkward because of how a chassis cannot be moved other than by being inhabited or possessed. To recover the body (and move it back to base) you currently need to resurrect, move to the chassis, transfer items to the chassis (e.g., light) then return to base with the resurrection body, then swap to the old body then return it to base.
  • Recovering a lunar affinity possessed chassis. If multiple lunar affinity bodies die far away from gestalts it can be awkward and annoying to recover them/resurrect them, as each needs to be swapped into and individually moved to somewhere with gestalts. As is, this dynamic causes people to avoid using the lunar affinity (which is a shame as the lunar affinity is very cool).

Other features:

  • This feature could allow WX players to give another WX player a chassis. I think this would be incredibly cool. You can already share circuits, so it is just a usability feature. I think it would be great to prepare a chassis for a friend and then give it to them to use.
  • It could also allow creating yourself a library of backup bodies you store in chest, with different circuit loadouts, again I think this would be very cool. If on the other-hand this was felt imbalanced, chassis could be limited to only being stored in WX's inventory.

This already has been addressed by couple people including me.

I think they would've added it if they wanted to. I mean no way they didn't see the posts right?
