I've seen a lot of people complaining about the drones and the differences between the first and second version of the skill trees, and I'd like to throw my hat in the ring as someone who loves both the robot aesthetic and the shadow vibe!

Personally, I believe that the auto grabbers are pretty much perfect. They function in a fun way and feel very wx. they're visuals are also fine as far as I'm concerned and while I could be nitpicky, I'd rather save my suggestion for the attack drones.

And getting to that, I think the exploiterators should have just *slightly* more shadow vibe. Functionally, I think they're fine because its clear they are getting better tuning soon to patch up their inconsistencies and remaining meaningful in their affect. My only gripe is that *only* having the shadow aura on the drone feels strange. I think that while scanning, the visual should be a bit more shadow-y if that makes sense. Changing the light from the mechanical yellow to a more pure horror like reddish color and adding some additional shadowy stuff going on to the drone model when powered by a higher tier of shadow material. They could keep their current appearance when a regular atrium is implanted (or nightmare fuel if applying this to the grabbers visuals as well) and having them look slightly more corrupted or have more little effects happen when they start working if a higher tier shadow item is put in.

All in all I love thus update and think the functionality is nearly perfect, I would just ask that we have some more thought provoking visuals that clearly show that these drones are truly imbued with nightmares and in the case of exploiterators, use their corrupting powers to weaken enemies when they shine that wicked light on them.

Thank you for all you do Klei devs I love you, but what does everyone else think? very curious :]

I think most people agree that the visuals aren't quite there yet to make it look like shadow. I've been seeing a lot of topics like this show up here and it makes me really glad to know that I'm not the only one unsatisfied with them visually.

Something that I don't ever see brought up in regards to making the drones more shadow aligned visually is changing the lens/light to purple or red. Typically people bring up how the drones themselves don't look "shadowy" enough and while I can understand, I do also think that they are small enough where little details may not really be able to shine through as well. One part that is pretty apparent when using them though is the green lens and light that the drones emit, it's a lot more prevalent I feel compared to the rest of the model which is typically shrouded in shadow energy. The only problem that I can think of with changing the lens to a darker color like this is accidentally making it so that the lens no longer pop out as much and instead get lost in the rest of the model.

I agree on the lens thing! thats basically what I was trying to get at where I think them being tiny ofc means intricate details aren't gonna work, but changing the lens to a bright red or purple and having the spotlight feel more like "My corrupted drones are weakening the fleshlings with the power of shadow, wonderful" and less like "drone point at enemy." Giving credit to klei, I think they nailed the drone idea and having this affinity be more based on passive affects and drone empowering a single active WX while the lunar is all about the chassis and the concept of multiple WX's.
