hi,

I am a oxygen not included big fan. I bought all of the dlc and played 1000 plus hours plus achieved multiple top 1% achievements. But nowadays I found that coming back to the game becoming harder and harder. On the same time, some game like tft (from league of legends) or valdmia survivor is an easier answer when i started my time. The reason is not coming from those games are more creative but they are easier for me to drop in and strat to “play”.

the main problem as an old player of oxygen to start play new dlc is, in order to taste a new version of the dlc system i have to repeat the very same thing as i have done 20 times before, like start new tech research and doing the basic food manager. For most cases they are the same thing, but in order taste the new dlc content, i have to spent another 80 hours for the early stage which is a big punch for me to start a new journey again.

However, some new ideas made me think this is not a dead end. Instead, a legacy system coning from the memory from other game like valdmia survivor of dark souls send round and a lot of similar inform me that another possible could be, oxygen can to build a legacy system which could be converting a small spaceship from old save to the new one or converting serval old people to the new file. The good thing coming from this legacy feature are solving two of the biggest problems that oxygen is facing:

1 it solve the problem of the new player being very hard to stay.

i remember when i was a newbie, I experienced multiple die out of my world. It is kind of frustrating. But if there is a tiny legacy feature can transfer some old world properties to a new start, the players will feel like “oh i am improving” rather than “oh i need to play again from zero”

2 a legacy made old gamers come back smoothly. The most painful things at the current stage for the old players is the long and boring early game. So what if i can get my old world skillful employees help me quickly finish my new system early build up? That will cool. A lot of time, the old employees with names and dress also gave me a certain memory. And also trying to build a consistent journey to make old players feel like it is not a tough transfer but real story transfer from old world to the new one is meaningful, whcih could be a old world disaster or a spacrship crashed to make the legacy more like a story telling rather a game data transfer.
