From my quick testing, it just seems that WX got every aspect of shadow affinty nerfed in quite literally ANY possible way one could imagine.
-the picking of resources is now (up to) 4 
-the picking of resources is now no longer possible off screen
-the extra damage is now capped at 20% (post rift only)
and WX now has to pay for all of these abilities?

Is there an upside to all of this? was anything gained other than aesthetics?

Hey, everyone wanted a more thematic affinity and they got it. I really think it should've stayed it way it was, a robot merging with shadows was cool, but now it's a lot more complicated when it should have stayed simple for people who didn't want to deal with the complexities of lunar affinity. I think the community is to blame for this.

The kicker is they very reasonably could’ve kept the effects the exact same whilst adding new art. Instead of the little shadow whip thing have the exploiter drone fly out of WX and scan. The grabby drones could function the exact same as the old shadow orbs but have little grabbers fly out and grab for you. I don’t see why they had to nerf the power so hard when it’s already super weak compared to lunar, all for aesthetics? I’m actually crashing out rn
