It never made sense for me that stuff just magically proofed from their body like Maxwell. Don’t understand why you blame the community. People did complain about it not being robotic but the end of the day it’s Kleis choice what they implement anyway. Hard disagree. Why would inserting fuel into their body allow them to craft, and why are the drones only active nearby the chassis with fuel inserted? I think it is really silly. The original affinity with more of shadow magic / possession theme made way more sense. It was just the shadow stuff doing its natural thing and corrupting WX. Kinda reminded me of ferngully Edited Saturday at 09:48 AM by OrangeNibble 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171132-initial-suggestions-after-a-bit-of-fooling-around/page/2/#findComment-1864240 Share on other sites

I don’t see how it doesn’t fit thematically at all thoufh. 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171132-initial-suggestions-after-a-bit-of-fooling-around/page/2/#findComment-1864244 Share on other sites

For me it makes the alignment fit together more. the drones are literally just normal drones with a shadow blob on them. If anything, shadow affinity in its current state has the opposite problem of what it did in its old version. It's too robotic and nowhere near enough shadow. If you remove the random shadow blob on the drone literally nothing about it screams shadow affinity, and it doesnt make sense how nightmare fuel or shadow atriums would be tied to these either. I would only agree if the drones were redesigned to look more like a proper mix between shadows and robots, something like the damaged clockworks. For me it makes the alignment fit together more. I don’t see how it doesn’t fit thematically at all thoufh. But the drones aren't possessed or corrupted they are crafted. I just think it is weird... If WX literally did posses drones that would be different. You could, e.g., have the rotomapper drones possessed when near a body with nightmare fuel in it, and that change the drone. That would make more sense... The current version is bizarre though. First, WX inserts fuel into his body 1. This allows WX to, for some inexplicable reason, craft? 2. The drones require being near the fuel-inserted body to stay active? It's just weird... The original effects being applied in an area around a possessed / shadow influenced body made a lot more sense. It feels like the drone thing is just not thought out. You could have a whole affinity based around drones, but this is a bizarre hybrid that just doesn't make sense. it isn't consistent. That is aside from the game play issues... And the thing is, the original shadow affinity seemed cool! Good theme, balanced, cohesive, etc... The lunar affinity makes backup chassis active, while the shadow one incentives you to use them passively, along side granting the main body active effects. It's really nice balanced design, with an elegant asymmetry between the shadow and lunar aspects, and the theming of the shadows possessing your body and backup bodies made sense / matched the mechanics. The old shadow affinity just needed a little bit of polish, maybe. The current version seems a lot lot worse in every way. Tired_Awaii
I feel like it's the same thing as lunar with gestalts possessing the chassis and bringing them to life but instead WX themselves are using the nightmare fuel to have the drones be possessed by shadow energy. Both the old and new effects useshadow magic its just the drones have a more physical part to them compared to the energy just lashing out of WX themselves. The thematic aspect is pretty subjective so some people are gonna think the old version is better and some the new version. Personally I think the drones are more interesting just that they are lacking a bit mechanically. I think the biggest difference between lunar and shadow is that you are able to visually see gestalts possessing the chassis so there isn't as much left up to the imagination while the drones are just being crafted and popped out. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171132-initial-suggestions-after-a-bit-of-fooling-around/page/2/#findComment-1864254 Share on other sites

To be honest this does seem cool. Thoufh it wouldn’t make sense for WX to make them purpously broken.
