That could end up with rot being destroyed when you want to keep it and mean you can't store it in chassises at all. It would make more sense to automatically stack it with other rot. Although that also conflicts with nightmare fuel automatically picking things up meaning it would be more difficult to farm rot from harvestables. I'm fine with this staying the way it is.

unless you are talking about the living chassis, i don't see a reason for the normal ones to drop it, normal chassis have mutiple uses, one of then is being a chest, so it storing rot make sense
