Juny Pear
Oh hey I remembered my password. It's been a while hasn't it? Gotta say I didn't expect for this to be the way I regain my interest in don't starve, but I very very much welcome it. Even just from the little bit we've seen in the trailer things look about as exciting as they can get. I mean we've got it all; elevation [and by proxy more vertically focused mechanics like gravity and cave walls], wading through shallow water, a more focused bleak aesthetic, water physics [or at least what looks like water physics], potentially overhauled mechanics like cooking and farming, the ability to just set down a still-burning torch at will [as any character this time] and probably most exciting and vindicating of all for me personally, a dedicated slot for backpacks. Beautiful. Seeing this immediately had me itching for some sort of an early playtest because this is probably the most excited I have been for a handful of new mechanics in a videogame in forever. Hell, if the modding side of things is seeing as much attention as I have seen everything else get so far, things are looking up higher than the stars themselves with the sheer potential of what this game could offer in the long term if it is built from the ground up with modding in mind. And considering that some of the "newer" developers have a background in modding ds/t I would not be surprised if this exact thing were to be the case, which I am all for. Other than that I think I like the artstyle a lot, took me a bit to warm up to it and I still think a few things look sorta odd [Wilson's face is sharp enough to cut glass], but as a whole it all looks extremely nice. Got some more shading going on, sprites receive lighting which makes them pop out some more and the water especially looks impressively good for a franchise that started out with, albeit charming, paper cutouts for waves. The only thing seemingly missing is support for unique side facing character sprites, they still just get mirrored from a single sideview for both left and right, but that's more of a nitpick at this point. Overall extremely exciting, has me looking forward to what the final game will be like. There's so much more to think and speculate about so I'm curious what others think but yeah I for one am very intruiged and think it looks great from what was shown. Major props! Harrowick
I feel the same way! There was so much to unpack that it feels overwhelming (in a good way!!) I've been losing my mind over this new setting and new environment that I completely forgot about the backpack slot!! AHHHH Definitely the most anticipated for a game I've ever been!! 1 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171016-wow-now-doesnt-this-look-promising/#findComment-1863334 Share on other sites
AleQuag
I left DST some years ago and now I got hyped again! I've been wanting for a sequel for so long and I'm so happy we're getting a new game! 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/171016-wow-now-doesnt-this-look-promising/#findComment-1863376 Share on other sites
