That said, I still support Klei’s new initiatives—I’d just really appreciate it if they could maintain one of their strongest qualities: staying close and communicative with their community.

This happens almost every time. Some consoles getting it delayed because the approval process ends up taking longer than expected happens really often.

Like, I'm not saying that you're unjustified in being frustrated at this (your frustration is totally justified, since they did give the Monday date for "consoles" and not for "playstation"), I'm just saying that this is not because of Klei having yet another ongoing project. This really happens all the time.

For what it's worth, I think they had something going on in the backend that really got in the way of them releasing the affinities early.

They haven't shared anything about it, so we can only speculate, but it was very weird to have the Affinities release less than a week away from the Beta's ending, especially when considering they released the beta earlier than normal. They should have had time to release the Affinities with plenty of time to spare.

So... Something probably went wrong in the backend and they had to put all hands on deck to fix the issue to make the affinities work... Or maybe they had some plans for affinities, but after internal testing, those plans had bad gameplay and they had to re-do the affinities from scratch, I dunno, I'm just theorizing here.

Anyways, my point being, it was very strange that the affinities were beta released so close to full release, so they probably had some issue internally, so the Skill Tree ending up incomplete was proooobably because of that.
