My thought about WX's affinity skills.

I commented this in another post but I think it should be a topic.

I think at least they shouldn't be circuits. I assume they would have an effect on current circuits.

For example, shadow skill can be a active skill like "overload", all your current circuits are buffed, but when skill ends, you lose all your energy for a period of time.(power-off time maybe base on how long you overloaded and have a upper limit, if you overloaded longer than upper limit you'll die immediately.)

And lunar skill warps the way circuits works, like Processing Circuits make you be in "enlighten" mode like on lunar island, and reduce the sanity instead of increase it. Bean Booster Circuits deal dmg to enemies around instead of healing yourself.

And maybe both of them could trigger by eating pure Horror/Brilliance.

I think it will be really, really interesting if they are like this. But I kinda doubt if klei have enough time to design such amount of new effects. But they said "it's a beta branch ahead of time" so I will look forward it.

I'll try to design some of them later just for fun, and maybe klei can refer to if they want.

Not a professional numerical game designer. the number just as a example and maybe needs to be changed.

Shadow affinity:

Eat Pure Horror make current body enter "overload mode", some circuit will be buffed. It will last 1 day, during the time circuits can't be unplug from the body. When it ends or you die during it, all circuits in the body will "Meltdown"(just disappear). Current body's energy will be totally consumed and not able to regen in 3 days.

Eat Pure Brilliance will end the mode. If so circuit will not meltdown and power-off time will decrease in proportion.

Alpha Circuits:

Super-Hardy Circuit: Character won't stun when being hit.(Or increase the hit times before character got stunned, the more hardy you have the more hits you take.)

Super-Processing Circuit: Double all sanity regen effects.

Super-Gastrogain Circuit: Gain 25% more from food.

Bean Booster Circuit: Double regen frequency.

Beta Circuits:

Chorusbox Circuit: If Beta Circuits Tinkering perk are picked, minions won't be scared by bosses.

Super-Acceleration Circuit: Every circuit provides 25% speed boost.

Electrification Circuit: Revert the nerf.(Base dmg 20, AOE dmg 100)

(Super-)Illumination Circuit: Increase the range of circular light.

Other Circuits: No extra effects.

Gamma Circuits:

Sonic-Invoker Circuit: Don't need to stop to trigger it.

Blocking Circuit: When blocking, WX will attract the hatred of the surrounding enemies.

Spin-Cycle Circuit: Increase AOE range. Axe weapons deal extra dmg.

Redigestion Circuit: No extra effects.

 

Lunar affinity:

Eat Pure Brilliance make current body enter "warp mode", some circuits effects are changed. It will not end until you eat Pure Horror.

I need to point out this skill will only be activated after CC, so it's more powerful. BUT it's late game effect.

Alpha Circuits:

Super-Hardy Circuit: No longer increase max hp, provides chance to dodge instead. Each provide 33%, cool down for 30 seconds if dodge triggered. (To refer:Cool down of Bone Armor is 5 seconds.)

Super-Processing Circuit: No longer increase max sanity, turn sanity into enlighten mode like on lunar island. Gestalt will not attack you just like wearing Enlightened Crown. Extra circuit will decrease 30 max sanity.

Super-Gastrogain Circuit: Won't lose hp because of eating.

Bean Booster Circuit: No longer regen. No longer inherit the effect of the Super-Processing Circuit. Deal (50 - 10*number-of-targets-in-range) dmg to targets around every 2 seconds, lower limit is 10 dmg. (To refer: It's after CC so weapon should be Brightshade Sword. Increase dps by approximately 16% to single target.)

Beta Circuits:

Chorusbox Circuit: Make sanity regen effect to insanity effect and double it. (This one seems strange to lunar affinity, but I call it "The resistance effect against homologous influences")

Thermal Circuit: Deal 5% extra dmg.

Refrigerant Circuit: Deal Ice Staff effect every 2 hits.

Electrification Circuit: No longer counterattack. Your attack will be charged. 1 and 2 deals weak electrical damage(elding spear effect, 1.25x to dry and 1.5x to wet), 3 deals Volt Goat Chaud-Froid electrical damage.

(Super-)Illumination Circuit: The enemies within the illuminated range slowed down slightly.

Other Circuits: No extra effects.

Gamma Circuits:

Sonic-Invoker Circuit: Influenced creatures will not be panic and will fall asleep instead.

Blocking Circuit: Blocking time duration shorten to 2 seconds. If blocks enemy successfully it won't need to cool down.

Spin-Cycle Circuit: It also works for other types of tools.

Redigestion Circuit: Nutribricks provides 5 sanity.

They might be circuits but also a new ability (2 in 1)

But it would probably be like plugging a shadow heart to fuel you with shadow energy, granting you and your chassis a powerful burst of energy that makes you be able to control every chassis at once.
And lunar version would be enlightment shard that makes you not lose charges and also buffs all the circuits

I wonder what they could be, but you got a nice simple ideas that are very nice and very possible.

I wonder if we can get the Scrappy Werepig laser for Wx78 as a lunar affinity.  Maybe a bulky dreadstone armor suit that feels like mecha mode for the shadow affinity?
