I've been a long time WX player and have around ~300 days of experience with the skill tree version of them, and to be completely honest I'm a bit disappointed with how this skill tree is turning out and I think a couple aspects of WX needs some attention.

Before the skill tree WX was in a pretty rough spot IMO, the rework heavily nerfed the character in favor of independence (not relying on Wicker) and in favor of the new circuit system. Circuit system is a great concept and cool but overall you got a fraction of the power you had before with old gear stats and overcharge. It was very unfortunate but I believe the novelty of the circuit system drew away attention that WX was a lot worse balance-wise.

Now with the skill tree and base WX changes, WX has gotten a lot better at two things: Survivability and Stats. Having extra slots dedicated to health, hunger, seasonal immunity, and more makes WX one of the best characters to Survive as, so much so that I believe that there's the overlap doesn't leave much room for skills and abilities that aren't tied to just living. Why do I need a handful of skills dedicated to reviving when I have so much health, armor, and a barrier? Do I really need a block circuit when I also have these things? I can also eat gears (which are a lot more prevalent due to the ongoing knight event) to increase all of my high stats. With all this overlap it became a bit ridiculous so I can see why it ended up getting nerfed, but some of the power lost needs to be shifted to aspects of WX to make them more interesting. The character is still mostly compromised of survivability and stats with not many tricks up their sleeve and honestly gets boring rather quickly.

Gamma circuits feel like the perfect opportunity to give WX a handful of new tricks, here is my feedback on the existing gamma circuits (not good):

  • Redigestion is a cool idea but it feels unnecessary with the existence of the gastro circuit (more overlap!). There needs to be a way to process more food at a time, because eating one rot at a time will get old quick. Let us process a whole stack at a time (please don't tie this to the gamma skill upgrade, it needs to be base!)
  • Block circuit just feels terrible, what is the purpose of a parry button when you only block 80% of the damage? If you are conscious enough to parry you can just move out of the way, and in situations in which you are destined to get hit the cooldown is so high that you won't get much value out of it. Also why is WX doing a karate block instead of some tech with their chassis? It looks silly and is more overlap.
  • Spin circuit is such a cool idea and I wanted to see something like it for a long time. Obviously the version that exists in-game right now isn't finished but please don't be afraid to make it good. WX needs a way to gather wood and do increased DPS and this is a fun way to do it especially since you are restricted to axes. The wind-up needs to be reduced because it is impossible to hit some mobs currently.
  • I don't have much to say about the Screech circuit, fulfills its purpose and opens up several opportunities for WX and their allies. Can we make it so the gamma upgrade skill also slows the affected targets so they are easier for your allies to take down?

With the current selection in mind there really needs to be 3-4 more gamma circuits. Maybe one that allows WX to vacuum items from a distance and in an aoe? WX desperately needs unique abilities to spice up their gameplay so that's why I believe gamma circuits are so important.

Finishing off the post here with general skill tree feedback:

  • Drones are overall in an okay spot, I don't like how the exploring drone becomes void of use once you already discovered the map. Maybe having the ability to swap your camera to the drones location to load in the area could be extremely useful.
  • The QOL circuit upgrades that aren't part of a branch are really lackluster and they all need significant buffs and changes. The numbers are so low that they don't even feel like they improve the quality of life at all.
  • The revive skills are not very interesting and should be changed to something else entirely, we really don't need 3 skills dedicated to reviving.
  • More backups, I feel a bit limited with the current amount and the restriction feels too forced unlike any other revive method and teleport.
  • With some of the nerfs the circuit upgrade skills feel... sad. You need the circuit upgrade to get the pre-skill tree gastro circuit. Some of the upgrades are interesting (beanbooster shield, electric circuit aoe) and a majority feel like a complete afterthought (night vision just swapping to a different filter, temperature circuits)

Final thoughts: An aspect of WX I would like to see explored more is them being a survey robot equipped to thrive and harness the power of the constant through their ability to analyze unique attributes of mobs. There's so much potential with a robot body that just isn't being explored and the current character is just abuse of high stats. I know it might be too late but part of me is hoping that the skill tree gets a major overhaul and as much love as Walter and Wendy.

One more thing...

Why did the electrification circuit get nerfed? Feels like the most undeserved nerf of DST history.

"I couldn't agree more! The current Gamma Circuits feel all over the place and lack a unified concept. Most importantly, they're missing that unique 'robot charm.' A circuit without a clear concept is just a generic buff—there’s no real reason for it to even be a 'circuit' in the first place. I want the Gamma Circuits to truly embody the 'robot fantasy' that sets them apart from humans!

I've been saying that since the rework dropped. im so glad people finally see the truth.
