edulopes Posted April 2 Share Posted April 2 (edited) I had the chance to play WX in the beta, and overall I think the character is in a pretty solid spot. In general, the base stats feel very convenient—almost a bit too perfect in some ways. At the same time, WX feels quite weak in the early game, which is somewhat balanced by how strong he can become later on. Regarding the circuits: Health circuits feel very good after the nerfs. They seem well balanced now. Hunger circuits might be a bit too strong. With just one hunger chip, you can go a long time without needing to eat, and I’m not sure if that aligns with the intended balance. Sanity circuits are in a good place, and the same goes for the Bean Booster, which feels well tuned right now. The electric circuit also seems fine to me—I don’t see it causing any imbalance or major issues. The speed circuit is in a great spot. Its secondary effect is especially useful, allowing you to use Piggyback or carry marble items without being slowed. It’s always good to have multiple ways to deal with movement penalties, like with Wolfgang, Beefalo riding, or Walter. The storage circuit is simple but useful—great to have when you have an extra slot available. The only circuit I found somewhat problematic is the light circuit. It feels like there isn’t enough light behind the character, which makes kiting enemies difficult when using the F key. There are moments where enemies stay in the darkness, making them impossible to hit. This could be improved either by bringing back the old Don’t Starve solo mechanic that allowed actions in the dark, or by slightly increasing the light radius behind the character. As for the chorus circuit, I think it’s in a good place balance-wise. The same goes for the fire and ice circuits. Overall, I don’t think WX is far from being balanced. In fact, characters like Wortox and Willow feel stronger than him right now in general situations (not even considering niche scenarios with other characters). So while there are still some adjustments that could be made, I don’t think many major changes are neede In my opinion, the Spatializer Circuitr circuit currently doesn’t have much room to move away from its core concept—and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Its identity is clear and functional as it is. That said, I think it could benefit from a small, thematic buff. As I mentioned in another post, since this circuit is clearly designed around expanding awareness and analysis, it might be interesting to introduce some kind of synergy with W.A.R.B.I.S. For example, WX could gain a minor bonus when interacting with or using W.A.R.B.I.S. while the Space Analyzer is equipped—something that reinforces the idea of enhanced perception or information processing. It wouldn’t need to be anything too strong, just a meaningful improvement that rewards the interaction. We’ve already seen similar design choices with other characters, like Maxwell having stronger synergy with shadow equipment. While those synergies aren’t mandatory, they provide a noticeable and satisfying advantage. Following that same philosophy, giving Space Analyzer a small combo or bonus interaction would make it more interesting without pushing it out of balance.
