Modus_99 Posted March 25 Share Posted March 25 I've posted this around in a few DS/T Discord Servers but I'm posting it here just to spread my idea a little bit more and because the Forums seem to be more a more appropriate place to suggest an idea like this. I've seen talks about how Backup Generator, the skill which lets Beta Circuits stay running even after WX transfers from a Chassis, being underwhelming or not seeming to have much practical use. This is in-part due to WX being limited in how many backup Chassis' they can have, meaning relegating a chassis to being an effective Icebox or Gramophone is fairly expensive, even if the Chassis' themselves are cheap to make. I had an idea of WX have a unique structure to themselves, and I mainly had this idea because of WX's relations to Wagstaff and Winona, and so I wanted to create an idea for a structure that is both unique to WX and serves as a replacement to the Backup Generator skill. The idea is fairly straightforward; WX can create a sort of "station" They can plug their beta circuits into. This allows for beta circuits to be used outside of WX's current Chassis, which is what the Backup Generator skill effectively does, while removing the costly nature of the Backup Generator Skill, that being the strict number of Chassis' a WX can make at a single time. There are also other benefits to this structure that the Backup Generator Skill does not provide. For starters, to set up a station to your liking you need to acquire the circuits you wish to attach to it. This encourages players to collect more Bio Data than just the amount they would otherwise want to collect for their own Chassis'. Another benefit is that the station could have more unique synergies than what the Backup Generator Chassis' can provide. I will go more in depth, but an idea I had is that certain circuits that do not provide affect other players in an AOE gain the ability too, which could further benefit other survivors. While the design on the left is the design I've mainly been referring to, the design on the right was my first concept for it and can only hold one circuit and provide its benefit. I feel as if this is also a fair structure, yet I do think it lacks the uniqueness of the design on the left. I feel like this is in part because my design on the left synergizes with Off By One, granting an additional small circuit slot on the top of the structure. - Now that the general premise of the structure has been gone over, I want to list off Circuit synergies with it Chorus Box Circuit - Provides Regular Effect, Sanity Aura and Tends to Plants. Thermal Circuit - Provides WX's Heat Aura, Thermal Stones Heat up when placed next to it, provides Freezing Res Refrigerant Circuit - Provides WX' Cooling Aura, Thermal Stones Cool down when placed next to it, provides Heat DMG Res Electrification Circuit - Allows the structure to act as a lightning rod, when struck by a creature they take get zapped Illumination Circuit - Provides a Light Aura. Super Illumination Circuit - Provides a Lighthouse effect, creating a cone of light that rotates around the structure Rangebooster Circuit - Provides nearby players a larger FOV. This effect does NOT stack with WXs own Rangebooster circuits. Spatializer Circuit - Gives the station a limitless storage slot. This effect can stack with itself for more slots and spoilage rates increase/decrease with thermal/refrigerant circuits. These next circuits effects are difficult to provide synergies for, so they aren't fleshed out. Acceleration Circuit - Provides a Speed Boost to nearby survivors? Provides Speed Reduction Immunity? Super Acceleration Circuit - Provides a Speed Boost to nearby survivors? Provides Speed Reduction Immunity? Optoelectronic Circuit - Provides a large radius of Moggle vision to survivors? Could attract temporary Fireflies? While the acceleration circuits feel a bit difficult to decide on what they should have, I could see the Optoelectronic circuit spawning in fireflies. To balance it, the Fireflies would be temporary and really only serve as decoration. I imagine it providing a pretty scene for a base under a Knobbly Tree. But maybe the fireflies could be caught? Kvetevk Posted March 25 Share Posted March 25 Spoiler Klei should hire this guy. It sounds like a really nice idea, it also could be more useful to the whole team without sacrificing a chassis. Also I would change these circuits: The rangebooster could instead increase the radius of other circuits. The super acceleration could make other circuits more powerful without needing to craft multiple of the same circuits (for example: 1 heat and 1 acceleration circuit would act as 2 heat circuits). I love your idea for the Rangebooster Circuit, and the thought of using Super Accel to increase circuit effectiveness did cross my mind. When it came to the Rangebooster idea, I was thinking about different ways you could use it. For example, while sea faring, you could construct one of these stations and let your party see further out. When a hound wave is spawning, you could have a designated station to see where the hounds are coming from or just having a station overlooking your base.
