Fishgirl
This post is less about what skills Should be added, and more how our pre-existing ones can be re-formatted and tweaked within the tree. Spoiler Alternative for the drones: The foundation right now is REALLY good, especially for the first released proof of the skill tree. There's also alot of critiques I have with current skills, primarily the lack of backups we get to play around with and the generally generic + purely passive effects. The latter is possibly what gamma circuits wish to achieve though, considering what we've seen from them in the code. 5 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170193-skill-tree-compression/ Share on other sites
YouKnowWho142
I thought the point was to use your skills wisely and to your own playstyle? Doing this lets you get basically every skill. I don’t disagree that some things can be compressed a bit especially the qol (which arguably shouldn’t be skills to begin with), but I think your suggestions are a little too much. 6 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170193-skill-tree-compression/#findComment-1855228 Share on other sites

I wish for new skills that introduce more depth to the gameplay. 3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170193-skill-tree-compression/#findComment-1855230 Share on other sites

We haven’t even seen all of WX’s skills yet, I definitely don’t think they feel as if they need even more new crazy special skills or mechanics to add onto what they have already gotten. I think some filler is okay, and I don’t feel like WX has an overly egregious amount. Evelo
If you ask me, I think skill trees could be expanded, instead of compressed, but focus on numerical changes not mechanical changes which is where most of the expansion would be put into. SrJavigo
this is a problem that has been for a while, they just do the same thing twice like lvl1 and lvl2 or put a useless skill between at least they could make it optional you are force to select 2 buckup for the last skill why... I think it would be good if we were given option to link to it from Warm standby and inhabited machine that way we have options. Weirdly enough I actually don't think anything in the tree is filler. Everything in the tree has either high impact or allows you to specialize. Kvetevk
In my opinion the skill tree is very well orginized and the "stronger" skills like +1 charge or teleporting to chasis makes sense to be put behind some skills. 1. the extra charge is actually reasonable if you think about it, why would wx78 upgrade his batteries if his circuits are not worth investing in skill points. 2. same goes for the remote transfer, why would wx78 or the player invest a skill for teleporting to other bodies if you had only 1 to spare. About the skill: cold standby (+1 chasis), I think 1 skill point for 1 extra body/revive is very reasonable and fair. Honestly if you compressed these skills or gave them more utility, they would make every other perk and the point of the skill tree useless, it is designed for you to be able to decide how you want to build your own character, what would you do with the extra skill points for compressing the skills? Pick filler skills? You can already pick more than half of the skills. Making more skills than there already are could also make the character be either: very powerful or very complex. If you dont like that you need to choose between skills then you can still download a mod that gives you all of them, or you can just divide your skills wisely or make a preset for early game, mid game and end game. I think this was perfectly said, there's no need to even argue this. We are not just making you able to choose everything in the skill tree, that would defeated the purpose of being able to choose.
