This Wagstaff chapter draws closer to its end, so what do we make of where this is going?

This mysterious man here disproved the double Wagstaff theory, and he seems to be Wx78's human self.

      

 

But we have already been faked out once, and I don't think it adds up that this is Wx78 due to this shot from the Interference animation:

 

We know this isn't Wagstaff's hand now and Wx78 is in the Constant already. Some have floated the idea that Wx78 is a replicated consciousness of the original human, but surely his post trans-human flashblacks would have shown a concerned human Wx78 alongside Wagstaff. It also would mean the assumption that this skeleton is the human remains of Wx78 is completely refuted and unexplained.

And though it gets funky with how time moves in the Constant, Wx78 was there prior to Charlie's capturing of the throne, which is when she begins using rose petals to represent her presence/power. Actually nvm, Charlie's rose on her head indicates she hadn't taken the throne yet in the Next of Kin animation.

I'd suggest it is more likely Wx78 did the trans-human project, was banished by Wagstaff to the Constant, and then Wagstaff looked for a new research partner. My question then would be who did he get, why does it matter, and what big revelation awaits at the end of this chapter?
