I love using dropped items as decoration, and be forced to remove all the dropped peppels and gems made me very sad, feeling like something is off

Maybe only 2+ dropped items in a stack should count as junk.

However, I must congratulate Klei, because these new quests were completely intuitive. I did all this without using a wiki, and I think its kinda correct.

Feel free to show me everything i did wrong. I hope I don't have to replace any turf.😐

"Junks" penalties has a cap of negative 50 points, and the maximum decor point is 100. So if you can add more decoration within Pearl's valid area so that the effective points reaches 150, you can put down as much "junks" as you want.

Another thing I found out is that junks on docks or boats right next to Pearl won't count towards the penalties, if you can work with that.

This might be a little bit technical but you can run a command to check your decor points. Just saying in case you need it:

Quote

c_announce(c_findnext("hermithouse2").components.pearldecorationscore:GetDebugString())

or

Quote

ThePlayer.components.talker:Say(c_findnext("hermithouse2").components.pearldecorationscore:GetDebugString())

Note: Use "hermithouse" instead of "hermithouse2" if the house is not upgraded to level 5

You could also force the game to update the score manually:

Quote

c_findnext("hermithouse2").components.pearldecorationscore:ForceUpdate()

before you run the check command above. Typically the game will update the scores every 10 seconds

A bit late to add to my previous replies, in case you are comfortable with using commands, could you send this image again, a bit zoomed further out, while wearing a turf-raiser helm or holding a turf in your mouse cursor? The zone where Pearl's decor points matter will be highlighted, and I can check a little bit better.

I didn't know about that. I thought all her requests were mandatory, regardless of the decoration points. So nothing that more light and tables can't solve.

TYSM for the explanation.

What items count as junk? I also like dropping certain beach or ocean themed items around my coastlines for decor. If items dropped around her are beach themed (shells, fishing rods and portable fishing scales, her pearl) they should add to decor points instead of take away. I'd like some more variety in what counts as decoration for her. The new additions are gorgeous and I enjoy how her structures look, but I'd like room to improvise and incorporate her beach aesthetic into my own beach/dock aesthetic. Her light posts are great, for example, but too much of a good thing can also detract. I don't like repetitive placement and I don't want to cover the entire area with them if I don't have to.

The whole decorating quest seems unnecessary restrictive. Her original quests allowed for a lot more flexibility with how you place things and what do you add to the existing setpiece. Nothing gave penalties as well. I understand not blocking fishing spots, it makes sense for her to keep access to the waterside. But the rest of the penalties don't make sense. What if Wendy wants to decorate Pearl's area with a little Crab King memorial and a symbolic grave? What if Wurt wants to have her trusty companions around when she is soaking in hot springs? What's wrong with decorating with items on the ground that needs to be punished so hard?
