I've been thinking how little germs, medicine, doctors, etc affect my typical playstyle and wanted to share some of my brainstorming: Either incorporating some of these in to a patch or a larger expansion Mechanics Expand Dupes lifespan options Giving Duplicants a lifecycle would add another element to balance out for those that seek additional challenges, or custom play Option for life span could range from 100, 250, 400, 500, Unlimited There could be a cloning building in the medical research tree, this building should scan a current duplicant, allowing their skills/traits points saved, then they could be reprinted fresh as a new dupe (same skills, life cycle day reset to 1). This would give players a new option enabling life cycles could attract a hardcore play option. Or folks could recycle and keep their most efficient dupes, or simply turn it off. The important thing is player choice. Devs could add 'celebration of life', and or have a more comprehensive 'period of mourning' (see death option below) Provide Death Option(s) Something more than a headstone. Each dupe could have preferred method of departure, similar to "joy" or "stress reactions" Buried- Current only option. Provide More headstones options, elaborate or simple. Graveyard. Create a special room, (With Décor requirement- dupes who visit can reflect on a previous friend- visited during downtime only Crematory- Dupes can be sent to the crematorium, turned into____? (ie 1 kg ash/charcoal) Shot into space, (for those astronomers, pilots, space enthusiasts and scientists). a tougher mini quest, but could be a neat objective/achievement a memorial wall for those who earned specific honors. Returned to the Earth - a more natural/spiritual request (ie in a park/reserve). Medical research- taken to new building 'operating table', 'for science'! - maybe give doctors skill ups. Healthy Eating Food should plays an important role in health. Not just Morale. A Healthy diet, can promote minor buffs (Athletics, Strength, etc), as well as give a permanent boon extending a dupes life cycle. On the other hand, eating mushbars and other unhealthy food, or the same thing day after day, should degrade dupes abilities (reduced science, Doctoring, operating, rocketry) Shower(s) Buff so it’s more relevant Lower heat Add more décor Add a more substantial morale bonus, (+4) from +3 provide a few more skins and sizes (maybe a group shower) Rads – and a logical rework. ‘It’s not a Tumor’ First off, Yes, there should be Rad sickness, but there should be more to it than Untreated, dupes should have their life expectancy reduced, based on rad exposure, as well as exercise and quality of diet (high/low fiber). Tumor (Benign/Malignant) should be a status/condition given to Dupes after several cycles exposure to high rad levels. They first should have a tag like "weird growth" until they get a check up. Again feeding into the benefits of doctors and health Tumors could slowly advance reducing a dupe’s cycle by a %, until time catches up to them, and they die. Tumor should be treated in a new building, operating table, and remove the tumor. This should stop all tumor debuff’s, and possibly reverse some of the damage caused. Iodine Pills should be a prophylactic that reduces Rad assimilation by x% (maybe 30-75%, needs play tested). Gives another recipe for doctors to make other than rad pill Rad pills should stay but take less resource .5 kg coal, or potassium iodide (new recipe). Checkups Doctors should be able to have checkups on dupes during down time, or active time. Only way to diagnose a weird growth to "benign" (ignore) or "malignant rumor" (operate) This would give Doctor dupe a versatile use other than treat dupes who were scalded in hot gases Exercise Should provide temporary bonuses to athletics’ and strength. When used often, would provide permanent buffs. Many players already incorporate some sort of gym prison to power level athletics, this could add a more reasonable option Upgradable Vent Upgrade in place a ‘vent’ or ‘high-pressure vent’ to filter out germs Allow insert of new item (HEPA filters) to remove germs, turn polluted oxygen to oxygen. Emergency Medicine Dupes that died within .5-1 cycle should be able to be ‘revived if brought to an operating table, and AED used (new item below). No penalty to revived dupe Dupes should be able to be brought back to live within 1-2 cycle (with 'dain bramage' debuff), perhaps some penalties... Skills Skills should have more application. Currently after your 10th skill point, it doesn’t mean much… Add a Morale dump,+1, +2. +3 morale, for say 2, 5, 8 skill point investment. Add an option to invest skill points into a large project, maybe a 'colony wonder', or 'super project' Perhaps these super projects help with some builds that are not new player friendly (petro boiler, sour gas boiler, rocketry, rare resources) The player should select the project and get some level of assist based on their request More choice with Demolier Can we have others come, (change stats, compositions) more or less shots to destroy other asteroids targetable New Elements · Charcoal – byproduct of Wood burner New Items Cloning building Iodine pills Surgical/Operating table: needed for serious wounds, remove tumors HEPA filter- charcoal, plastic, cotton fiber, refined carbon AED- see below Bunk beds Gaming table – seats 4-6, can be used to eat on, or play tabletop games. Either Mess hall, Great Hall or Rec Room Musical instrument(s) add some sound to a room (drums, guitar, bass, keyboard) Treadmill Free weights (1-2 dupes) spotter and exerciser, they switch Pull up bar Exercise bike Karaoke machine 2-4 dupes to jam out. Needs placed near instruments Doctor Outfit Provide bonus to doctoring- reduce chance of catching + spreading sickness -95% Provide an animation that they mask up when helping dupes (treating, surgery, checkup, autopsy) AED New craftable item – requires renewable battery, plastic, copper. Needs charged after use Used to bring a ‘incapacitated’ dupe back to life with 1 hp. New Rooms Rename old room called clinic, similar requirements, cut mess table, toilet needs. 12-64. (Bonus provides better treatment for injuries) Hospital allows a much larger footprint to design, 32-120 tiles, (Bonus less likely to spread disease, best treatment for injuries) Isolation ward – a small room with mess hall, bathroom, sleeping area 12 x 64 (place to send dupes who are sick) (Bonus -zero chance to spread disease). Exercise room/Gym -place to place gym equipment (exercise bike, treadmill, free weights, pull up bar), good down time activity Music studio- place for instruments, music and downtime Mod Incorporation Incorporate Ronivans mods into the game.
