A "one default setting" is objectively worse as it will only cater to a very small specific set of players' playstyle. Klei did a good decision to make the game tweakable to each players' liking. Every thing you are complaining about can be removed if you don't want it. Only reason players won't tweak it is if you are too ashamed to not play on "default" settings, as an "elite" gamer. Also new players can see the gigantic "easy mode" in the very beginning of creating a world. I never said I don't care how other players want to play the game. My point is that Klei should focus on releasing updates that most players enjoy, instead of adding features that only about half of the community likes. That's clearly not the win-win situation you describe - it's a one-sided win and a one-sided loss. Klei has already proven they're capable of making updates that appeal to the majority, from the diverse cooking recipes in the past to the recent pumpkin carving event. Green Reptile Posted November 7, 2025 Share Posted November 7, 2025 Using a spiderhat and crystal buzzards nearby, you can make huge herds of spiders infight, and the buzzards will land and annihilate the entire group no sweat. The moon spiders that spawn afterwards can then be commanded to fight each other again, generating more silk. Please answer my questions: Why does Klei deliberately arrange rift generation to avoid existing buildings? Since it's a survival game meant to make pressure, why does rift placement consider player bases? Did any tornado or tsunami consider your houses? Why do Giant attacks require warning time for players to evacuate buildings? Shouldn't survival games deliver sudden attacks that destroy everything without warning? Why Klei released so many quality-of-life updates? In survival games, staying alive is priority one - why optimize repetitive actions? Similarly, why do your-called "survival game players" approve these quality updates? Shouldn't they prefer higher survival pressure instead of comfort enhancements? These points are all original Klei designs (not players' mods). Do they conflict with current absurd mechanics like Crystal-Crested buzzard instantly destroying Houndius Shootius with just one shot of fire? Different players got their different playing style in DST. And Klei DO RESPECT those farming players before, but this time they don't. These changes even didn't get a test or feedback in the beta.
