Wales the Moonbound is but a simple yet intriguing figure. What was first known as an outcast punished by them soon bound by the cosmic forces of the Moon into a more grounded character. Don't be fooled by the simple looks, for underneath those large goggly eyes an enemy that could go on par against the Fuelweaver himself quietly slumbers deep within his core.

Stats: 250 Hunger | 100 Sanity | 120 Health

Downsides:

  • Claustrophobic (too many objects within a 3 x 3 radius will rapidly drain your sanity and also give a reduced movement speed debuff)
  • Heat Hater (takes 3x damage from heat sources)
  • Far Sighted (opposite of Wagstaff. Anything near you is a blobby mess, while everything else further away becomes crystal clear)
  • Accursed (Like Wilba)

Passive Ability: Lunatic Berserk

When exposed to Enlightenment, a passive meter builds up on the top side of the screen. Depending on the gauge state, the following stats change:

0% < 10% - a small planar damage buff granted to any weapon held (around 4%)

10% < 30% - 40 HP is immediately capped off and turned into a crystal shield (it can be regenerated via: Pristine Tincture)

30% < 75% - gain a significant buff in following stats: +20% bonus damage +15% damage resistance to shadow creatures +8% movement speed | be wary that at this phase, you gain an increased hunger factor of up to -5x overall hunger

75% < 90% - passive health regen of 2.2HP/min | increased aggro range from both pigs / merms / powder moonquays.

100% - Become the Abyssal Horror. A serpent like monster that can traverse water with immense faculty (you can get fish out of the water without the need of a sea fishing rod)

When transformed into the Abyssal Horror:

300 HP | 200 Sanity and | 100 Hunger

You gain a damage modifier of x6.25 but cannot wield any tools, craft, or place anything.

Upon the bar reaching full gauge, you have a 3 minute timer replace it instead. If in that time you don't manage to get your hands on your silver shackles, you end up getting lost under the control of the moon, if that's the case, two major events occur: You don't die, but any items you've had on you are dropped on the ground.

The Abyssal Horror is now an active enemy on the waters, occasionally leaving the sea line and is found hunting around ponds. Much like the Malbatross, he will break your masts, and more akin to the narwails, he will poke holes in your boat. For as long as he's active, there will be a constant Lunar Eclipse.

  • Lunar Eclipses naturally occur every 51 days > these will instantly fill up your Lunatic Berserk gauge to max.
  • Shadow and Lunar creatures spawn anywhere.

You can counter the curse by wearing the silver shackles Wales already comes equipped with. Alternatively, you can craft a Pristine Tincture via 5 glass shards, 3 spider glands and 1 cut stone to inhibit the transformation altogether for 30 seconds.

Pristine Tincture: Removes the crystallized HP cap. Has two total uses. Using it multiple times in short sequence will inflict grogginess and have no further beneficial effect (total cooldown for around a minute before being properly effective again)

I do know that %s in DST can be super wacky, so these approximates provided serve rather as a guideline for demonstration purposes than actual in game values. I'll send in the Lunar Serpent later on when I've got it etched out on paper.
