After all these years a lot of people are still wanting for this. Some of the items and the mechanics would need to be reworked but I think it is possible to live in a world where we can travel freely between the main continent, the Shipwrecked Isles, and the Hamlet cities. For instance, to travel to the Shipwrecked Isles it could be that you have to shipwreck in a specific location in the sea and then you wake up in the isles. And for Hamlet it could be that you build a balloon to fly to the Hamlet biomes.

But if they don’t add the biomes at least I would like to see the characters come back. Regarding the characters, Hamlet characters are a lot easier to adapt to DST. Wilba could work perfectly with the normal pigs. Maybe she could update their houses and give them jobs or something like that. The problem comes with characters like Walani or Woodlegs. We would need more and more interesting stuff to do in the sea to make them playable (and Walani would need waves to surf).

What do y’all think?

It's a dream that we all know could be true one day but unfortunately not any day soon,

but yeah I often think and imagine how it could work, but the first problem arose with the servers it is pretty hard to run 2 at the time, main land and the caves, but if the Hamlet and Shipwrecked would be on the table ours PCs will be running like 5 at once(3 main land for base game, Shipwrecked and Hamlet and 2 for caves and volcano), it doesn't sound that pretty is it,

the way I envisioned it is if it would be possible the action to travel from one world to another will require presence of everyone on the server to be present in whatever means our characters will move from world to world so that the game can shut down the main land and caves server and start running the Shipwrecked and volcano, so it won't make our PCs explode and doesn't clog up the online server space.

It is just my stupid brain trying to come up with the reasons how this could work but reality could be more complicated than that idk.

Those 2 dlcs being in the dst will add so much ways to play it is almost unimaginable, but then why would anyone play original don't starve, no point other than adventure mode prehaps. At the moment base DS didn't get any updates in 2 years, and it breaks my heart cause even if I spend more time in dst rather than in ds, it's because dst receives new content, QOL and lore, I would spend as much time in the DS if the next day new bosses, bioms or reworks were added to hamlet or Shipwrecked  but why would devs add to those while the are currently working on new update arc to dst, which I love but still, devs would need to prepare ideas to hook around these two worlds, like lore behind the volcano or expand on the ancient hamlet war, mants and shadows form the temples, but at the moment they are focused on the moon vs shadow situation on the main land and trying to wrap up the story there.

Maybe in couple of years when the original story arc for dst would be done maybe then Klei could expand on the previous stuff and then add it to dst, se they wouldn't need to rework ton of the stuff they reworked for dst from the beginning, so they would have to manage 2 games at one time, and stuff like adventure mode could be added as a some sort of a challenge run mode and even expand on it, it will be also a way of implementing Maxwell being the bad guy in the dst, couse if those 2 dlc will become the part of dst the base ds will become irrelevant so new players won't have a reason to buy it and they just come straight for dst, but with those challenge modes present(adventure mode being the part of it) we could still have a call back to the time where Maxwell was the main big bad and have all important lore bits in the one place.

but yeah it's easier said than done so at the moment we have to enjoy the things we have and hope those two could become reality far in the future.
