Hello!

I'm making a custom character using the esc template: https://forums.kleientertainment.com/files/file/950-extended-sample-character/

I was wondering if it's possible to double/quadruple the resolution of sprites to make them less blurry in-game. I tried doing it with one sprite (foot-0) and its size gets increased in-game as well, also position is messed up.

Edit: Imgur link for normal quality screenshots because they get downscaled here for some reason: https://imgur.com/a/Qsn11f3

Maybe for it to show properly all of the sprites need to be upscaled? I know there are character mods on the workshop whos sprites are higher quality, so it should be possible.

What's your workflow anyway? So far here's what I've been doing: I draw in Photoshop on a much bigger canvas first, then I merge the line and color layers, and convert the resulted layer to a smart object to preserve quality in case I need to resize it again. Then I copy-paste it to the files in the exported folders, downscaling it to fit. It does result in some quality loss, and in-game some colors bleed onto each other (you can see red bleeding over the outlines in some areas):

Another issue is that my smaller body parts are not very visible, and have almost white-ish outlines when zoomed out (hard to see on the screenshot):

I think this might be from quality loss, or maybe my outlines are not thick enough, though I made sure to beef them up as much as other characters'. Maybe it's the colors? They do look much more desaturated due to the color cube. Or it could likely be the complicated design itself, with many small details and different colors. I realize that this character doesn't lend itself easily to the artstyle of Don't Starve, and I had to simplify a lot. But I want to stick to the original design as much as I can. Again, aside from the color bleeding (which is only visible in-game, not in spriter or on the pngs), it looks pretty good up close. Any tips will be appreciated.

Screenshots get downscaled here, no matter how I insert them. I provided an imgur link with normal quality.

You can draw at any scale and set a scale value in the build.

But I am not sure if the current tools have such function.

You can subscribe to some popular character mods and see what their textures look like and develop your character based on one of them.
