Schneid_101
With ruins, sproutrocks, ocean chests, dragonfly and now boulderbough trees, there are now lots of ways to gather ruins gems. In my long term worlds, green, yellow and orange gems tend to stockpile due to very few uses. So, as the title suggests, maybe ruins gems could be socketed to thulecite items with different effects: Jeweled Thulecite Crown (yellow gem): Generates light the same as when the forcefield is activated and a 10% speedboost. Drains durabilty while worn with a full crown lasting for 4 days. Adorned Thulecite Suit (green gem): Repairs the suit while worn. The repair rate could be lower than dreadstone (probably half as fast). Also drops half the materials when it breaks, minus the gem. Beaded Thulecite Club (orange gem): While equipped, can be used to teleport the wearer to a thulecite beacon. The beacon is craftable in a fully repaired station (requires an orange gem for each one as well). The beacon can be deployed anywhere and does not require additional maintenance once deployed. Once socketed, the wearer can use the club three times before the gem breaks (the club itself remains intact). It will teleport the player to the nearest beacon or to another beacon if the player is standing in one. Cannot be used without a beacon. Can only be casted on self. As you may have noticed, the suit has the least significant effect out of the three, mainly because green gems are more usable than the other two. The crown is useful in the caves and ruins itself as you can have armor and a light source while still wearing a backpack. The durability drain is to keep in line with other light sources and i think 4 days is long enough to justify the cost. The orange gem is probably the most costly but I think it is also the most useful. This gives other characters a way to teleport at a higher cost. As an added bonus, it gives thulecite items more usage, especially the thulecite club. 4 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/167894-gem-socketed-thulecite-items/ Share on other sites
Sacco
I’ve had a similar idea but with just the suit. You can socket gems inside it, and every gem has a special use. Once socketed a gem can’t be removed. Blue: leave an ice trail which slows enemies down by a bit Red: deals small explosion damage on hit (low damage, like 10) Purple: makes the player immune to knockback Yellow: on hit gain a 1% speed boost which stacks up to +25%, it resets on damage taken. Green: repair a very small amount of armor if you hit an enemy based on weapon damage (if you are using a dark sword you will repair 0,1% durability every hit, does not apply to harmless enemies) Orange: on hit have a 1/6 chance of not taking ANY damage, teleporting the player in a random direction close to the enemy and deaggroing them.
