Right now thulecite is very useful for early to mid game weapons and armor, but when either rift is opened any thulecite gear struggles to keep up with planar enemies. You are also encouraged to keep clearing the ruins for the gems which means you will likely have a large amount of unused thulecite.

The thulecite bug net was a good addition to make thulecite more useful in the late game but you won't be using it enough to deal with all the thulecite. More tools we don't have good late game equivalents too (axe, fishing rod, sea fishing rod, trap/bird trap) and decorations (statues at the potters wheel, fences, pillars) would help to give thulecite more use after rifts.

These thulecite items would also fit great in the new ancients beta as a nice bonus.

Some ideas on new thulecite stuff:

Some items may be crafted with post rift items if they would make the default versions obsolete.

  • Pillar with a larger protection range and more durability than the stone pillar
  • Axe that spawns shadow tentacles when swung like the club (with optional shadow axes) to help you cut down trees.
  • Traps/bird traps that spawns shadow hands to grab nearby critters of the traps type. also possibly preserves the critter
  • Sea fishing rod where when cast shadow octopus tentacles occasionally grab nearby fish and throw them to the player

Some other ideas for items with new features:

  • Equipment similar to the turf raiser helm that plants any seed (pinecone, birchnut, marble bean, maybe even crop seeds) put into it when the player walks around.
  • Hunger 1
  • Sanity 1
