With the implementation of Boulderboughs, they function as a source of thulecite fragments, this is pretty thrilling, especially since the drop rates seem to be somewhat decent. Since Klei seems open to introducing more sources of thulecite, I'd like to ask if Dust Moths could be made more efficient?

I've utilized dust moths as a source of thulecite fragments a few times in instances where fighting fuelweaver was not viable and I did not want to take from the thulecite supply of the rest of the server. So far every time I've done this I've found it to be wretchedly slow for a meager amount of thulecite. For reference dust moths take six minutes, and are guaranteed to drop at least 3 thulecite fragments, with a small chance to get four, a smaller chance to get 5, and an even smaller chance to get two extra pieces, and a minuscule chance of getting a full thulecite chunk. This combined with the fact that you can only get one, I've seen at most three Tidey-Hidey-Holes in an Archive, makes getting thulecite from dust moths woefully time consuming for minimal yield.

This balancing was more understandable when your only options for additional thulecite was via duping, or killing Ancient Fuelweaver to reset the ruins. Since then we've gotten things I never would've anticipated with the bar set for resources like thulecite, such as sproutrocks. I really do like the design and function of Dust Moths in worlds, and I would like to not feel like I'm burning daylight trying to farm them.

Man, I completely forgot about them xD Aahahahha

I remember when everyone gasped what thulecite really was and how Klei finally wanted to break the ultra scarcity of the item.....until the same day we discovered how much long and tedious it was, forgetting completely about them. I really really forgot about them.

Yeah and now look at the new trees....lmao unbalanced as Klei does. Frankly I really don't know what to say about the little guys. They make me feel sorry.

Like, how would you balance it? Because as it stands now, trees are more fun, interacting and have even more uses than them.

It seems to me that other sources of tulecit should be weaker in comparison...

Hmnnn maybe this is the solution.

1) The weaker option is Great Depth Worm

2) The less weaker are the trees, but still weak

And then we have the more stronger ones, Dust Moth and of course Ancient Fuelweaver being the strongest of course. Like some kinda of stepladder.

We should have a method to farm Dust Moths. Maybe this method can be found in the Archive or be provided by Wagstaff. As both the ancient people and Wagstaff have need for thulecite.

The Dust Moths we see in the Archive seems very old. Then can we create some kind of younger Dust Moth's den? These younger ones clean their dens faster and spawn more thulecite, meeting our practical need.

Or Dust Moths just simply lay eggs after eating Amberosia. That is why their number never increased, they are hungry as their owner abandoned them just like they abandoned the Archive.

And maybe we should have some measures to get Collected Dust just in the Archive, or directly from the Dust Moths themselves instead of mining the salt in the ocean.

Just some random ideas. I must say this beta and this topic really make me excited.:wilson_lightbulb:

I don't remember the trees that produce thulecite...

For example, I think the moon statues in the archives should be indestructible, just like in Atrium. It's special place.

And the Ancient Guardian drop is really too generous.

I really wanna see better drops for dust moth method. I second this hard since I also am a fan of not killing fuelweaver and just using these alternative methods when the thulecite runs out (having to do all the trouble to kill fuelweaver when I need 6 thulecite really is unoptimal). But the biggest concern is how just inefficient it is. I tried talking about this but got no response to it for years and I've seen a lot of people complaining about this as well, the method is so so slow for such a small ammount of thulecite that it almost feels like I'm being scammed. Another instance that the game also made me feel like I was scammed was when I first killed toadstool just to not get the glowgap blueprint that I thought would drop from the regular version. Knowing these struggles would really change your perspective with these things in the game, and I'm sure if the developers tried to fight something solo for 3 in-game days just to find out it doesn't drop the thing you wanted and now you have to go out of your way to find a super niche and obscure method to spawn a double hp version of the same boss you spent all those resources on just to make sure you get the drops you want for an item that doesn't even have infinite lights without Re-killing the celestial champion, then they would probably change those things in-game once they figured how awful it feels to experience that. EDIT: and by changing I mean the toadstool drops, not the process (I don't mind the process being even longer and harder, as long as the reward feels great), they need to re-think toadstool drops and dust moth thulecite farming.

Yeah me too! Very happy and excited.

Anyway I don't like the idea of reproducing infinitely dust moths by the player, increasing their size population. I would like other solutions that involves the player exploring each time  the Lunar archives for having thulecites from them. Unless! You're talking about "replacing" old dust moths with new young ones, which will make better and faster thulecite but with time they will age and you need to repeat the process. If this was the case, I welcome it!

I'm talking about the new trees! The boulderbough trees.
