Quikin
Hi everybodyyy! I was so excited about the WX-78 Youtooz that I started imagining what his skill tree could be. Since I did find many other concepts out there, I decided to assemble one borrowing many ideas i saw from the community so no credit to me :P. I think the “build-your-character” mechanic is his best attribute but also the hardest to expand. I’ll explain as best as I can with my English level. Thanks for reading the introduction>>>here we goooo!!! sorry if i am cringe :P I’ll go from left to right, skipping the Mecha Skill Tree for now and saving it for later. Chassis Skill Set Inspired by a forum post I read (sorry, I don't remember which one), so credit goes to whomever it was :P Chassis 1: WX-78 can upgrade his chassis using scrap. Cost: 1 scrap → Grants +1 inventory slot and +50% circuit durability. Chassis 2 (requires Chassis 1): Cost: 1 scrap → Grants +1 inventory slot and +100% circuit durability. Chassis 3 (requires Chassis 2): Cost: 1 scrap → Grants +1 inventory slot; circuits no longer lose durability. This set is simple and meant for players who want to swap circuits frequently — hence the extra inventory and durability boosts. There are another skills that can be considered to support this play style. Pawn Skill Set Inspired by Clockwork enemies. Pawn 1: A spider-like bot that deals electric damage. Doesn’t follow the player; stays in place to defend an area (like Winona's Winbot). Pawn 2 (requires Pawn 1): Upgraded version using scrap, similar to a warrior spider. Pawn 3 (requires Pawn 2): Equivalent to a cave spider. At low health, it buries itself and regenerates HP. Upgraded from Pawn 2 using scrap. A straightforward set focused on defense, but not too creative — I’m still i dont seem to make my mind around a unique functionality for Pawns beyond being similar to clockworks. Scanner Skill Set — Jimmy Upgrades Jimmy deserves an upgrade i say!!!, so these skills are focused on improving his utility. Scanner 1 (Jimmy+): Enlarges Jimmy’s scan radius and makes detection more forgiving. (Automatic upgrade, so, no scrap cost.) Scanner 2 (Jimmy 2.0): Reduces Jimmy’s scan cooldown and increases his movement speed. (Automatic upgrade) Scanner 3: Lets Jimmy transform into a "Sentry" >>> Scans independently (player no longer required nearby). >1-slot compartment to store biodata. >Can stun enemies with a weak >electric shock. >Completely invulnerable.> Inspired by the Stink Ray in behavior and design. Backup Energy Skill Set Expands circuit slots while introducing balance. Mechanics: Backup Energy This skill set expands your circuit capacity while keeping everything balanced: dependency on blue slots to draw power from a specific green slot. If that green slot runs out of charge, all blue slots immediately deactivate. Restriction so any stat-boosting circuit placed in a blue slot won’t grant the stat bonus, they retain special effects though. except the Royal Jelly circuit, whom still delivers its special stats and effects even when slotted into blue. Backup Energy 1: > Unlocks the blue slot system and grants 1 blue slot. > Unlocks the Candle Circuit (1 slot): < Raises WX-78 temperature by 1. < Emits soft light, similar to a warm Thermal Stone. (As you can see this introduces a theme of utility/emergency circuits). Backup Energy 2: > Expands blue slots to 2. >Automatically upgrades the Electric Circuit, granting minor resistance/armor when equiped (similar to Wigfrid’s armor but weaker). Backup Energy 3: Back Up Energy 3 increases your blue slots from two to three and unlocks two hybrid circuits that combine lighting with temperature control—giving WX-78 real utility for both himself and teammates. Dwarf Star Circuit (3 slots): Projects a glow matching the Illumination Circuit’s base radius (effects stack with other Illumination, Dwarf Star, or Polar Light circuits). Functions like the Fire Circuit for WX-78, but also buffs allies in the light zone: raises their minimum temperature by 15 °C, adds +25 °C warmth, and speeds up drying by 10%. Polar Light Circuit (3 slots): Merges the Refrigerant Circuit with illumination circuit to create a cool glow. Shares the same stacking and radius rules, so you can fine-tune hot and cold areas around you. Example of stacking: Equip Dwarf Star > Light radius 1 + heating aura Add Polar Light > Light radius 2 + both heating & cooling effects Add Illumination > Light radius 3 = Expands the area of the thermal effects. this way the temperature effect becomes clearly visible, and the Illumination circuit remains useful even in daylight. Backup Energy 4: > Expands blue slots to 4. >Unlocks Adrenaline Circuit (4 slots): Triggers when health drops below 10%. Cooldown: 2 minutes 30 seconds. Effects: >+30% movement speed for 5 sec > No player collision (5 sec) > Damage immunity (3 sec) > +30 hunger and sanity > Caps fatal damage at 10% max health Like an airbag/life-saving circuit on the brink of death. Alignment Protocol Skill Set Alignment Protocol 1 This skill is required to unlock any alignment branches. It grants the Photosynthesis Circuit (3 slots), which is always active: Remains functional even at 0 energy (only drains charges when unequipped). Increases food consumption rate (similar to Wormwood’s bloom stages). Makes talk to plants faster. Greatly boosts energy-slot recharge speed. Multiple Photosynthesis Circuits can be equipped and stack, speeding up overall energy recovery. Can be installed in blue slots, but its recharge bonus applies only to green slots. Shadow Alignment Protocol A1: Its a shield, toggled via skill wheel. < 8 sec cooldown. < Uses 2 green energy slots. < Absorbs 80 damage from one hit. Protocol A2: <Stronger shield, toggle. < 10 sec cooldown. < Uses 3 green slots. < Absorbs unlimited damage from first hit, and consecutive damage within 1 second window. Lunar Alignment Protocol B1: > Unlocks arm-cannon or craftable beam weapon. > Shoots 3 beams per attack. Uses 1 energy slot per attack. Activates via skill wheel (replaces unarmed attack). Protocol B2: Upgrades beam weapon. Adds special "lasher" attack (inspired by Scrappy Werepig). Costs 2 energy per special attack. Primary attack range increases. In Alignment Protocol B, I’ve added the option for the ability to be integrated into WX-78’s arm or used as a standalone weapon—can’t decide which works best with skins. The catch is that when you activate it, the arm actually transforms (and the look changes with each level), but when it’s off it just reverts to a normal arm. Now I need to open the gallery and show some bad drawings I did to support the text visually since the next set of skills are center around a mecha that WX-78 will be able to build and use (only with the ability unlocked since it’s like Avatar or something and you are mentally connected to the mecha or some excuse like that) here… Yeah, those were just the previous skills sketched out xP. Now, onto the mecha skills! MECHA* agg, I misswrote that—sorry! (Also, I saw some mecha concepts in images and they’re so cuteee, but I wasn’t brave enough to use them directly, so you know that’s where all the inspiration is coming from.) So this skill set is locked and you need at least three skills unlocked across Chassis, Pawn, and Scanner to access it. Mecha Station: This is the first skill and it unlocks all the others (the numbers don’t indicate order—you get them once the station exists). As the drawing shows, the Mecha Station works like Wurt’s Royal Tapestry or a Pillar: you build the station first, then use it to build, upgrade, and recharge your mecha. One station per mecha. Level 1 – Basic Mecha: Mines and chops at the same speed as Big Woby with helping horns Very slow attack Inventory: 9 slots (like Woby) HP: 400 If broken or uncharged, it turns into a “block” you can push like a boulder or big veggie You can repair (with scrap) or recharge (with a WX-78 energy meter or nitrine fuel) on the spot and redeploy Regenerates HP and energy when docked at the station Upgrades (crafted and attached at the Mecha Station): Drill Arm One arm becomes a drill that mines and chops much faster Deals heavy damage but attacks slowly Wheels Replaces mecha feet with wheels Movement speed ramps up over time, like Woby’s sprint Suction Arm Upgrades the other arm into a vacuum tool Stores sucked items in mecha inventory (works like Wortox’s nab sack) Can also collect twigs and grass from tufts and saplings Mecha Circuits Unlocks four circuit compartments for the mecha Circuits share durability (high-slot circuits drain durability faster) Circuit synergies I’m considering: Night Vision Circuit ×2 → adds “infroggles” effect (living creatures appear pink), with scan-color cues: yellow for regular, red for nightmare creatures. Chorus Box Circuit Tier 3 → a longer, more complete song instead of a short loop. Acceleration Circuit → each additional circuit gives diminishing returns, capping at +60% speed with five equipped (+5% for the 4th and +5% for the 5th). Alright, that’s it from meuuuaa z z z ... !... Let me know what you think!~ andddd catch you later!.... zzz. 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166959-skill-tree-ideas-for-wx-78/ Share on other sites
