brednas7 Posted July 7, 2025 Share Posted July 7, 2025 (edited) As we all know Wendy's skill tree is pretty flawed, failed to buff Wendy's weaker potions and klei thinks Wendy is already strong. First of Wendy got easy time in the early game becease with Abigail to fight groups of weak mobs and can easily get food from those mobs (mostly from spiders), but can struggle far more when facing with difficulties: fighting shadow creatures, fighting groups of mobs (only Gestalt Abigail) and when facing certain bosses especially when fight the boss for the first time or when difficult to keep Abigail healthy. I suggest to rebalance basic spiders chance to drop monster meat and silk to encourage players to rely on different sources of meat and to make silk more common, but make spider warrior more likely to drop monster meat to balance it out (making Wendy early game food source take more work for the player instead of letting Abigail do all the dirty work). For her skill tree here are some ideas: Pipspook Quest II the 2 extra lost toys give 2 Mourning Glories instead of 1 each (the aim is 10-12) to make the skill tree more flexible Strong Brew empowers potions giving an extra effect to most potions: Revenant Restorative heals 60 hp immediately, Spectral Cure-All heals 120 hp immediately, Unyielding Draught 25-30% armor, Distilled Vengeance 50% armor (tested it, 50% armor is reasonable against bosses) and Vigor Mortis gains dodge (cooldown based) Blessed Sisturn III putting dark petals gives Abigail 2-3 amount of lifesteal per hit Wendy does damage to a vexed mob (synergy with Grave Beautification and armor potions idea) Mourning Glory II Unyielding Draught and Distilled Vengeance go before armor to help save armor durability, making it a nice praticing tool for beginers and Vigor Mortis gives partial protection against sand/moonstorms (less slowdown and better vision then without it, but worse than Desert Goggles) Mourning Glory III 20 health cost for building and attunning, ghost can haunt it like a touch stone to revive if unattuned (may consider giving a health cost discount to Telltale Heart and Meat Effigy when having this skill) Vengeful Ghost Abigail stays active when wendy dies for 15sec and don't reset becease of it Grave Beautification slight better rates and faster growth of evil flowers, atleast 3 evil flowers with a chance for a 4th Lunar Sisterhood III apply vex to mobs close to the mob that got it by Abigail Shadow Sisterhood III 4 min maximum instead of 2 2/3 min and murdering when wearing dreadstone helmet (1,25x), bone helm and void cowl (both 1,5x) give more time per murder (or just give Shadow Abigail more time per murder in general) I don't want Wendy to end up just like WX-78 and Wickerbottom nerfed because of balance, get power creeped (cough cough *Wurt* cough cough *Maxwell*) and to be left forgotten by most. My problem with Wendy and her skilltree is how severe her diffulty curve is, some people stereotyping Wendy players as lazy and entitled and how her skilltree doesn't help with both. Not counting beefalo, her 0,75x damage can somewhat limit Wendy to make progress when Wendy can't get help from others or Abigail dies to quick/can't help (think about getting nightmare fuel for Shadow Manipulator/Dark Swords or getting certain boss drops/progress to lunar/shadow quest lines) causing Wendy to stagnant, discouraged to make progress or over prep for those fights, causing her to be slower that other characters with said progress. Willow and Woodie beat Wendy in the early game, Wormwood beat her in getting food when base is set up (all three got AoE btw) and in combat her reward is worse then Wolfgang (to be fair only old Wanda beats Wolfgang I think and people didn't wanted Wendy with shadow Abigail to beat Wolfgang's dps) and more difficult than Wormwood (depends per boss), leaving Wendy in somewhat awkward place as a combat character (especially when more). The only niche Wendy got right now is fighting Bee Queen and fighting with beefalo pre rifts over other characters (people don't always want/got time to tame a beefalo). Wendy needs some balance changes to make her difficult curve less severe, need some nerfs to make the early game less easy and needs some optimizing in her skilltree to make keeping Abigail alive less frustrating (Ghastly Experience feels like a crutch tool right now) and her utility skills functing. Pipspook Quest II: the 2 extra lost toys give 2 Mourning Glories instead of 1 each (the chance based drops was in hindsight worse ideas, because i only wanted to up Mourning Glories by 2 to get 10-12 Mourning Glories) Blessed Sisturn III: instead of player tag make it custom player like tag so Klei can better adjust how much damage Abigail take from each boss without making boss easier/harde to other characters, but make healing nerf base kit (only Cure-All) I feel due the lack of Wendy related post and seeing less Wendy's in public servers in recent month there is some Wendy fatigue going on right now, I experienced the same a couple of years ago around the time Reap What You Sow came out. I am open for suggestions and feedback. It’s like a different way of going about furthering Wendy’s goal of bringing Abigail fully back to life to parallel how using lune blossoms furthers that goal in a different way? brednas7 Posted August 31, 2025 Author Share Posted August 31, 2025 Update to the list: Strong Brew, Vigor Mortis gains dodge (cooldown or chance based) Shadow Sisterhood III, giving more time if murdering lunar aligned mobs (only if my original idea doesn't work or if this one is preferred) Also found a useful strategy when hallowed nights are enabled using Bulbous Lightbugs for Shadow Sisterhood III ^ current protect using Lunar Experiment on Light Flowers including method to store them indefinitely for later use (late game only however becease of needing Enlightened Shards and Shroom Skins), saving some time instead of reviving Butterflies or catching bees. If anyone form the Klei staff read this, here is a question: if bosses are balanced around players having a certain amount of protection and healing, how much room for error do you expect a mob with 600 hp with the only defensive play been overtime healing, trying to avoid getting hit, maybe taking 10% less damage because of alignment and 15 planar defense against the more high damaging bosses (some discouraging tanking) have?
