I think the one thing this game is missing is more mechanics related to the attacking. 

It would be fascinating to have "aliens" in the game that attack your duplicates to some extent, whether through timed special events or little colonies hidden somewhere on an asteroid. 

It would add a lot of depth to the game, you could add a weapons tech tree, new buildings for defense, and would add a fascinating dynamic where you want to keep bringing new duplicates in to replenish the war effort. There could be spoils of war, new alien technology discovered, and could open up avenues for some sort of future PVP. 

Or at the very minimum, it would be interesting to have hostile critters like an alligator that seeks out and kills your duplicates.

Let me know if you agree or have other recommendations! Would love your feedback.

I just love the thought of the dynamics of managing dupes with a wartime strategy, that would be epic! Would add new dynamics to keeping your dupes cheerful, managing a larger graveyard, and constantly pulling in new dupes through the gate to replenish lost dupes. Adds new verocity to food management, base design, etc. hope Klei can reply with their thoughts?! 😛

I agree it would be fun to have some sort of attack option be an 'option'. To me it doesn't have to be a 'War', but maybe events whereby  certain creatures appear and start to tunnel/fly, creep toward your base/power/ food stores.  Rewards should be comparable to the threat, and it should be an option, that not everyone has to elect into.

Maybe i am thinking to fondly of Fallout shelter though... where managing vault dwellers to be ready 'to respond', 'defend' or 'scout' was a key objective. I did like that though, and would find fun in managing a colony, while reacting to other threats...
