Spawn mechanics for deerclops?

Specifically, how much space in the world is required for him to spawn. I wanna make a mega base world that is deerclops proof, and to do that, I was wanting to make it to where bosses could only spawn in a certain area. Is there a minimum amount of space required in the world for deerclops to spawn?

EDIT: Is there any way for someone to show me the code for him spawning, or is there anyone to look at the code myself?

No, he will spawn regardless of how much free space you have around. The best way to deal with it is to spawn him with a hostile flare at the start of the winter away from your base, and kill it. Then it won't respawn until the next winter.

I think he doesn't spawn on the lunar island? Either that or spawn him early with hostile flare

So like, if I fill up every single free space on the island with walls except for the one place I am okay with him spawning, he would just spawn on top of the walls?

doesnt matter, deerclops can spawn on top of crowded base. so she didnt need to spawn on free tile. 
i think deerclops mechanic that she will spawn on a player in certain radius (idk how large is the range but probably a slightly more than a screen wide) and target the closest building from her.
so just spawn her in pretty large empty area with one building like sign so when she spawn she come right to the sign u built .

There is no way to prevent Deerclops from spawning outright (Unless you hide in the caves/lunar island all winter), but thankfully her spawn patterns are consistent and predictable.

This video goes into how her spawning works, and how to more or less pinpoint her exact spawn timing on default settings. Hope it's helpful.
