Ridley
Celestial Revenant: I heard you can give Greater Gestalts to Wagstaff, so I tried doing only that, but after 5 he asked me for a more powerful source. Reluctantly, I gave him a normal Gestalt which was what he was looking for. This result in 5 termites and 1 of the flying drones. Giving what I had seen from other people's videos, this seemed completely flipped flopped to me. As for the Revenant, I think it would be neat if its little craters were replaced with little energy fields like the last boss has. It is a quick fight so I don't see it getting out of hand and I think it would do enough to differentiate it from CC phase 1. W.A.R.B.O.T: Wow this is brutal without a setup to thwart the missiles and tools to dodge attacks. For the missiles, I got by the first few times by setting the island's natural resources on fire (which was fun). When WARBOT starts mixing a few missiles into its attacks, I had to choose between setting fires or dodging the next attack. Either way I was getting smacked. If the best strategy for dealing with the missiles is lots of dwarf stars with thermal stones, I think this will quickly be regarded as the worst boss ever. Also, the best hint that these missiles are heat seeking is by dying to one to translating the Wagstaff speak that is "Thermalock". My frequent difficulty with this fight was purposely trying to dodge attacks with the base running speed or walking cane. It seemed like I could consistently dodge the flying slam attack if I was close to WARBOT when it started the jump and then running straight under it. It felt like the timing and position was maybe too tight though. Once the termites get involved, I lost control of my positioning and would get slammed frequently. When I look up how other people dodge the attacks, I see the Lazy Explorer, Magiluminescence, or Bone Armor. Stacking speed is one thing but feeling forced to teleport or negate a hit makes me think the slam is too fast. I had such a struggle with the slams that I flipped on godmode to progress the fight. I already know successful youtube strats to fight the boss, I was just interested in seeing what it was like without. It does mean I didn't interact with the termites much. Celestial Scion: Seems like speed/teleporting is mandatory here. I struggled to dodge the dash unless I backed up, but this meant less time hitting the boss which results in more energy field creep. The dash attacks also made it hard for me to position myself so the energy fields were aimed away from the center of the arena. The fight was pretty over before it got to the supernova attacks, so I am unsure what dealing with that would of been like. Only other thing of note was the Mushy Cakes gave me like 30 seconds of sleep resistance? Maybe it is a godmode thing, but I thought the sleep resistant effect was supposed to last much longer. I think this fight will be better when it shoots creep from the center instead of the outside edge, though I wouldn't mind seeing the energy creep attack being narrowed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Looking forward to seeing how the beta progresses. As of now, I am planning on asking the Terrible Twins to sort WARBOT out for me.
